  • Publication number: 20070280502
Abstract: The application discloses a system and methods for remote access and analysis of data collected about items under inspection. The system includes one or more data collection stations, each of which may include an X-ray scanner that scans the items under inspection to obtain data about the items. The data is transmitted to one or more remote stations, where the data is remotely analyzed to determine whether the item contains a potential threat, such as, for example, explosives or other contraband. Data may be aggregated so that correlations between data collected for different items may be used to more accurately detect threats.

    Inventors: Joseph Paresi, Andrea Whitson
  • Publication number: 20070195994
Abstract: A method of advance baggage screening includes steps of transmitting a threat file corresponding to an item under inspection to a processing center, analyzing the threat file according to a detection algorithm at the processing center to determine a screening result for the item under inspection, and transmitting the screening result to a remotely located operator interface for access by an operator.

  • Publication number: 20060115109
Abstract: The application discloses a system and methods for remote access and analysis of data collected about items under inspection. The system includes a data collection station, that may include an X-ray scanner, that scans the items under inspection to obtain data about the items. The data is transmitted to one or more remote expert stations, where a remote expert analyzes the data to determine whether the item contains a potential threat, such as, for example, explosives or other contraband.

  • Publication number: 20060098866
Abstract: An inspection system having a user friendly operator display. Characteristics of items under inspection are represented in the display by color and brightness. Each pixel on the display is assigned an intensity representation of a first characteristic of a region of an item, such as density. Color is assigned to each pixel based on anther characteristic of the regions, such as atomic number. The intensity assigned to each pixel in the display is based in part on the color assigned to that pixel so that each pixel representing the same value of the first characteristic will appear to a human with the same brightness, regardless of the color assigned to the pixels. Such a display is used in an x-ray inspection system to represent attenuation of x-rays by brightness and effective atomic number by color.
