The steps of providing the image, including erasing the surface, generating the image on the surface, fixing the imaged surface, and conditioning the imaged surface, are carried out in a section-by-section manner over the entire surface, and all the steps, or sub-combinations of the steps, may be carried out in parallel. In the apparatus for producing the printing image, the devices for erasing, imaging, fixing, and conditioning may be mounted on a common platform movable along a longitudinal direction of the printing form to allow the steps to be performed in parallel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a scanning method and a scanning apparatus for optical density measurement of preferably at least one measurement object arranged on a printing medium, with sensor means for scanning the measurement object. The invention envisages that the sensor means comprise a number of measurement heads, and that, in a manner dependent on the detection—performed by means of a selected measurement head—of a reference object arranged on the printing medium at a distance from the measurement object which is predetermined in the transport direction of the printing medium, the measurement heads which are thereupon activated detect and scan the measurement object. To that end, the measurement object is designed as a measurement strip which extends transversely with respect to the transport direction of the printing medium along the width thereof and has a linearly arranged chain of measurement fields having specific color density values.

The device contains at least two doctor blades which are arranged preferably at a short distance one behind the other in the direction of rotation of the roller and rest under pressure against the surface of the roller and of which a front doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has a doctor blade edge radius such that essentially only the dampening medium, but not the ink layer, can be wiped off from the surface of the roller by said front doctor blade, while a rear doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has, by comparison, a smaller doctor blade edge radius such that at least part of the ink layer which has remained on the surface of the roller can be wiped off.
