  • Patent number: 7712376
Abstract: A method for determining an approximate value for a parameter characteristic of the fatigue state of a component as a result of a time-varying stress to which it is subjected by means of a number of load cycles should, itself, during comparatively lengthy stress cycles, enable a prognosis concerning the current fatigue state of the component, this prognosis being, in particular, adapted to the needs and suited for the real-time determination of maintenance intervals. To this end, in addition to optionally already fully completed load cycles, a first partially completed load cycle is also taken into consideration during the determination of the parameter, whereby temporary stress values for phases that have not yet been run through of the partially completed load cycle are, together with a predetermined fixed value, taken into consideration.

  • Publication number: 20100066412
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for reducing the quantity of values of a sampled signal which need to be stored. A value of the signal is stored if the value is outside, or at the edge of a, predefined value range whose size is determined by an upper limiting value and a lower limiting value. According to the invention, the size of the value range is changed, in particular is continuously reduced to zero, staring from a predefined starting size of the value range, which the values are being recorded.

  • Patent number: 7633078
Abstract: An apparatus (1) for erasing a storage phosphor layer (2) includes a drive (5) for producing a relative movement between the storage phosphor layer (2) and the radiation source (8), the storage phosphor layer (2) lying or being moved in a holding plane (7), and a reflector (11) for reflecting radiation. The reflector (11) is arranged and designed to reflect erasing radiation reflected by the storage phosphor layer (2) in the direction of the storage phosphor layer (2). A width (14) of the reflector (11) in the direction (6) of the relative movement is at least ten times as great as a smallest distance (15) between the reflector (11) and the holding plane (7).

  • Patent number: 7523651
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring the condition of turbines using their coasting time. The aim of the invention is to ensure that the monitoring process is as sensitive as possible with low resource requirements. To achieve this, the measured coasting time (tmeasured) is corrected by a correction member, in which the temperature of the medium (Tmedium) in the turbine that has likewise been measured, is taken into consideration and compared with a reference value.

  • Publication number: 20080214762
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing polyisobutenes by polymerizing isobutene in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst in liquid organic phase, terminating the reaction by admixing the organic phase with an aqueous terminator in a dynamic mixer which has a rotationally symmetric mixing chamber formed from one circumferential wall and two end walls, and a mixing rotor driven such that it rotates therein, the organic phase being introduced through a first inlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall and the aqueous terminator via a second inlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall, and removing a finely dispersed mixture of the organic phase and of the terminator through an outlet orifice provided in the circumferential wall and feeding it to a phase separation. The process serves to prepare high-reactivity polyisobutenes and/or polyisobutenes with narrow molecular weight distribution.

  • Patent number: 7206778
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, systems and methods for searching for relevant documents in a document corpus. Using, among other things, text provided by a user's query, the system undertakes a dynamic search process that includes at least one ordered sequence of searches. The results of a first search are evaluated to determine how to formulate a second or subsequent search, whether to perform a second or subsequent search, or whether or how to present to the user results from the search or searches performed up to that point. In one example, the first search uses tight criteria in conjunction with the language of the user's query. If the number of documents in the search results do not meet or exceed a threshold value, the search criteria is progressively loosened over subsequent searches. The search list may depend on, among other things, a characteristic of the user query or upon a result returned by a previous search on the user query.
