  • Patent number: 7291808
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for setting a parameter for external control units (30) of a welding device (1), whereby the welding parameters can be selected and set using different control elements (27) and indicating elements (28) on the welding device (1). The aim of the invention is to provide a method of this type with which a flexible adaptation of setting options of external components (29) connected to the welding device (1) is made possible for the most varied applications or welding processes. To this end, a control program (32) is activated in the welding device (1), whereby the selected welding parameter for setting or adjusting is selectively assigned to an external control unit (30) located on an external component (29) so that this welding parameter is set or changed when the external control units (30) on the external components (29) are activated or adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20070164006
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operation of a welding unit (1), for the execution of welding processes with a welding device (2) and a welding torch (10), whereby operational states for the welding processes are recorded and, depending on the operational state, vibrations which may be felt are generated and a welding unit (1) and a welding torch (10), for carrying out said method. According to the invention, the possibility of providing feedback about particular operational states to people involved in the welding process, in particular, the welder, without the same having to look away from the welding spot or the arc (15) may be achieved, whereby, in particular, the welding current (I) or the welding voltage (V) are modulated, depending on the operational state, to generate acoustic vibrations in the arc occurring during welding, or, depending on the operational state, mechanical vibrations are generated.

  • Patent number: 6605800
Abstract: The invention describes a control device for a welding device (1), consisting of a digital control device (4), in particular a microprocessor control, and a welding process control unit, comprising a signal processing unit, hereinafter referred to as SP unit, and a pulse width modulator, hereinafter referred to as PWM, and at least one external component, such as a power component (3) or an input and/or output device (22), etc., for example. The welding process control is digitally operated by the welding process control unit and the configuration and parameter settings for the welding process control unit are handled by the control device (4) through software means.
