    Abstract: The invention relates to a fire-resistant ceramic gas sink which can be fitted into a wall or the base of a vessel for receiving a metal melt. The gas sink comprises at least one channel extending from the cold side of the gas sink to a hot side thereof. The channel is fluidically connected on the cold side thereof to a gas supply device enabling a treatment gas to be introduced via said canal into the metal melt.
