  • Patent number: 10132311
Abstract: A high pressure pump of a common rail pump system includes a pump body having a cylinder with a piston bore and a piston reciprocally driven in the piston bore to pressurize fuel in the cylinder. The piston has an inner end located in the piston bore and an outer end outside the piston bore. A bellow having a first opening and a second opening is arranged between the piston and the pump body, wherein the piston extends through the first and second openings, wherein the bellow is connected to the pump body such that the first opening is sealed on the pump body and wherein the bellow is connected to the outer end of the piston such that the second opening is sealed on the piston. This arrangement prevents mixing of engine oil and fuel. The bellow may be connected to a drainage line via a one-way valve.

  • Publication number: 20170204823
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines and the teachings may be applied to a roller for a roller plunger of a high pressure fuel pump, to a roller plunger which is equipped with a roller of this type, to a high pressure fuel pump which has said roller plunger, and/or to an internal combustion engine having a crankshaft which comprises the high pressure fuel pump. A roller for a roller plunger of a high pressure fuel pump may include a first roller region comprising a first material, a second roller region comprising a second material, the first material and the second material connected to one another in order to form a composite roller volume element, and the first material having a lighter density than the second material.

  • Patent number: 9664165
Abstract: A plug-in pump for a common-rail system has a pump housing having a cylinder formed therein and a piston guided in the cylinder, a fuel inlet, and a fuel outlet. The pump housing also includes a plug-in section for inserting the pump housing into an opening of an engine component, and a flange that delimits the plug-in section, for fastening the pump housing to the engine component. To cool the plug-in pump, the pump housing has at least one flow duct with a separate fluid inlet and a separate fluid outlet. The fluid inlet is connectable to a fluid-discharging line of the internal combustion engine, and the fluid outlet is connectable to a fluid-receiving line of the internal combustion engine.
