  • Patent number: 8347785
Abstract: A web offset press includes several printing units through which a web passes essentially in a horizontal direction. The printed web then passes to at least one first folding unit. Each of the printing units has at least one plate cylinder and one transfer cylinder which interacts with the web being printed. An effective plate width of the plate cylinder corresponds to the print image of at least eight upright or prone printed pages in a BIN 4A format. The printed web is slit longitudinally into a plurality of web strands: A first number of these web strands are supplied to the first folding apparatus. At the same time, a second number of web strands, produced by the slitting of the same web, are supplied to a second folding apparatus for further processing.

  • Patent number: 7908966
Abstract: A cylinder, which is part of an inking system or of a dampening system, has a rotary individual drive which is embodied as a drive motor. A changeable drive is also provided. The rotary drive is driven by the drive motors by a bevel or angular gear.

  • Patent number: 7690302
Abstract: A printing form is either raised or is lowered by the use of a pressure device which includes a roller. The roller is arranged on a cross-beam in such a way that the roller can selectively be placed on, or taken off the forme cylinder, or a forme that is supported on the forme cylinder, by a device. The pressure device, or the cross-beam which supports the roller can be displaced in a manner such that the distance of the roller from the cylinder can selectively be increased.

  • Patent number: 7549372
Abstract: A printing machine is provided with a control panel for use in the printing machine's control. The control panel is located on one side of the printing machine which includes at least one printing unit which has at least one pair of cylinder. This at least one pair of cylinders are mechanically coupled to each other by a drive connection and are driven for rotation by a drive motor that is independent of other printing units. This drive motor and the drive connection are located on the control panel side of the printing unit.

  • Patent number: 7536955
Abstract: A device is used to influence the fan-on effect of a web in a web-fed rotary printing press. Sensors are used to sense and to monitor a side register control or adjustment of the web. The values provided by the sensor are supplied to the device which controls the fan-out effect.

  • Patent number: 7464645
Abstract: A printing machine has at least one machine element which can be adjusted by the use of a setting element. An adjustment of the one machine element has an effect on the quality of the printing performed by the printing machine. An optical detection device, which includes a sensor that is oriented toward the surface of a material which is being printed, detects the quality of the printing. A controlling device receives data from the optical sensor and adjusts, together with the setting element, the at least one machine element based on a difference between a quality of the printing which has been specified as a set value and the quality of the printing detected as an actual value by the optical detection device. This adjustment is done to manage the differences between the set value and the actual value.
