  • Patent number: 6315520
Abstract: A turbine casing includes a multilayer casing wall in which an intermediate layer in the form of a non-metallic bulk material, preferably sand, is provided between an inner layer and an outer layer, to cope with high steam states. A method of manufacturing a multilayer turbine casing includes inserting a core representing an intermediate layer into a casting mold while forming a cavity for the inner layer and/or the outer layer. The cavity is then filled with a casting material, with the core expediently remaining as the intermediate layer in the casing wall. Alternatively, first of all a U-shaped profile part is made and an intermediate space formed by the outer layer and the inner layer is filled with the bulk material.

  • Patent number: 6227799
Abstract: A turbine shaft for a steam turbine, in particular having a high-pressure and an intermediate-pressure turbine section. The turbine shaft has in its interior a cooling line for passing cooling steam. The cooling line is connected, on the one hand, to an outflow line and, on the other hand, to an inflow line. In this way, steam cooling of the turbine shaft can be achieved by feeding steam from the high-pressure turbine section via the inflow line to the intermediate-pressure turbine section through the outflow line. The invention also relates to a method of cooling a turbine shaft of a steam turbine.

  • Patent number: 6102654
Abstract: A turbomachine, especially a steam turbine, includes a casing, an inflow region formed at least in part by the casing for guiding working fluid, a feed for a cooling fluid, a rotating-blade carrier disposed in the casing and extending along a principal axis, and a shielding element disposed in the inflow region for shielding the rotating-blade carrier from the working fluid. The shielding element is attached to the casing by a mounting and the feed is guided through the mounting. A method is also provided for cooling one or more components of a turbomachine adjoining an inflow region for a hot working gas.
