  • Patent number: 4479150
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and circuit arrangements for changing the audio information in an audio/video recording/reproduction system and particularly in a color video system wherein the audio signals are inserted as sampling pulses of a time-multiplex system into the color video signal and particularly into a blanking interval of the signal and the recorded original audio signal is overwritten by a new audio signal. In preference the horizontal blanking interval of the video signal is used for this purpose, and in the case of a color video signal the color burst is displaced to the bottom of the horizontal blanking interval in order to free the back porch of the horizontal blanking interval for the audio signal. The circuit arrangements according to the invention contain corresponding circuit units which are suitably matched to the measures of the methd. The invention can be preferably used for color video systems without losing recording capacity on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4456160
Abstract: A guide device for tape-like recording media, especially a reversing guide device for magnetic tapes, that are transported at high speed, which comprises at least one guide roll, around whose periphery the recording medium is guided, and which is rotatably mounted in bearings, a deliberate specific braking torque being produced between the guide roll and its bearings. Further embodiments concern the roughness of the roll's peripheral surface, the design of flanges for the lateral guidance of the recording medium and the use of two guide rolls. The braking torque is produced by braking means acting on the guide roll. The novel guide device can be used advantageously in any high-speed magnetic tape transport apparatus for the recording/reproduction of any type of audio, video or data signal.

  • Patent number: 4348692
Abstract: Equalizer circuitry for a wideband signal recording/playback system, in particular a home video system, comprises a pre-emphasis and a de-emphasis circuit in the recording channel and the playback channel respectively. In an advantageous embodiment, the pre-emphasis and de-emphasis circuits are of the second-order type. In the preferred embodiment of the circuitry, in each of said channels there is provided a circuit for group-delay equalization, preferably an all-pass filter which comprises at least one substantially symmetrical transistor stage provided with a bridge circuit consisting of at least one reactive impedance and ohmic resistance and located between emitter and collector. Practical embodiments of the bridge circuit comprise several series-connected parallel LC sections and one ohmic resistance. Advantageously, conventional filter stages in the channels may be at least partially included in said circuit for group-delay equalization.

  • Patent number: 4163247
Abstract: The invention concerns a color television camera for providing a color television signal suitable for recording. The camera comprises separate transducer means for deriving the luminance and chrominance information bearing signals, the transducer means being controlled so that the color information scanning takes place during the line frequency flyback of the luminance scanning. The luminance and chrominance signals are subsequently interleaved by time division multiplex and the resulting signal can be recorded by the use of simple magnetic recording devices.

  • Patent number: 3949415
Abstract: A color TV signal is recorded on an information carrier and includes a luminance component which occupies a predetermined luminance frequency range and a modulated chrominance subcarrier. In a conventional color TV signal, the modulated chrominance subcarrier occupies a first chrominance frequency range having a predetermined location relative to the luminance frequency range. However, the modulated chrominance subcarrier is assigned a different second frequency range which has the advantage that the modulated chrominance subcarrier in such range is easier to record. A color TV picture is to be reproduced from such recorded color TV signal. Firstly, there is introduced into such color TV signal a corrective phase shift bringing the signal into synchronism with a studio synchronizer. Only thereafter is the modulated chrominance subcarrier frequency-translated from the second back to the conventional first chrominance frequency range to thereby form a conventional color TV signal.
