Abstract: A butt plate for a gun, in particular a long gun, with an intermediate piece to be attached to the rear side of a butt of the gun facing toward the shooter and with a plate made of a recoil-damping material, which is attachable to the side of the intermediate piece facing toward the shooter. A monopod is accommodated in a recess of the intermediate piece in a slidable manner such that the monopod can be moved from a position in which it is substantially arranged within the recess into at least a second position in which an end of the monopod protrudes out of the intermediate piece in such a manner that the butt can be supported on a solid base by means of the monopod. The intermediate piece is substantially made of a machinable material.
