  • Publication number: 20050196271
Abstract: The flow machine is furnished with an abradable (10) made of a particle composite material. This so-called composite (1) contains granular core particles (2) of a ceramic material. The surfaces (20) of the granular core particles carry functional layers (22) which form an intermediate phase of the composite which is stable at a high operating temperature. The intermediate phase in this process has been produced in situ at least in part by a chemical reaction of a precursor material (22?) and material (21) of the granular core particles on the particle surfaces (20). Bonds (23) are formed between the granular core particles arranged in a porous composite by the intermediate phase. These bonds have a breaking characteristic for abradables.

  • Publication number: 20050069756
Abstract: The high temperature fuel cell includes a fuel side carrier structure (1), which includes an anode layer (1a) and which serves as a carrier for a thin, gas-tight sintered solid material electrolyte layer (2). This carrier is formed by a heterogeneous phase (1b) in which hollow cavities in the form of macro-pores and also micro-pores are contained. The heterogeneous phase includes two part phases which penetrate each other in interlaced manner. The first part phase consists of a ceramic material and the second part phase has metal, for which a redox cycle can be carried out with a complete reduction and renewed oxidation. The first part phase is composed of large and small ceramic particles (10, 11), from which inherently stable “burr corpuscles” (12, 13) are formed as islands in the heterogeneous phase. The second part phase produces an electrically conductive connection through the carrier structure in the presence of the reduced form of the metal.

  • Patent number: 6357770
Abstract: The wheel suspension of the invention is a thin-profile wheel suspension system including spring and dampening mechanisms and an optional brake and drive motor, mounted to a suspension frame in a compact arrangement which permits all or most of the sprung components to be mounted within the volume enclosed by the rim of a wheel, and thus the wheel suspension of the invention may be referred to as an “in-wheel suspension”. The wheel suspension comprises a hub plate assembly including hub bearings and axle. The hub plate is mounted to a suspension frame by a motion-controlling sliding mount assembly, which connects the hub plate to the suspension frame while it permits the hub plate to slidably move in response to wheel loads. In the preferred embodiment, the suspension frame includes two forks, each fork mounting a sliding rail mount assembly comprising a slide-and-rail mechanism aligned vertically on the suspension frame and mounted to the hub plate.

  • Patent number: 5812248
Abstract: A process and apparatus are disclosed for generating object traces representing the movement of objects through a measuring space. The measuring space can be illuminated by a laser or other light source, or alternatively the objects can be self-illuminating. In either event, light from the objects is detected over a finite acquisition time, to generate the object traces. During a predetermined portion of the acquisition time, preferably near the end, one of several parameters that govern the object trace width is altered to increase the width, thereby giving the object trace the form of an arrow or vector. The altered parameter can be the brightness of illumination, the sensitivity of the image detector, or the position or state of system components, in particular the image detector, a lens or other active optical component between the objects and the detector, or an optical component between the light source and the objects.

  • Patent number: 5461320
Abstract: A capacitive measuring device or apparatus; in particular, a length-measuring apparatus, which incorporates a scale portion and a scanning unit which is movable relative to the former and which supports transmitting electrodes and at least one receiving electrode. Herein, a transmission circuit applies transmitting signals at a basic frequency to the transmitting electrodes, and with the receiving electrode being connected to a reception circuit, to the output side of which there is connected an evaluating circuit for the receiving signals. The transmitting signals are applied to the transmitting electrodes through a pulse width modulator and a synchronous modulator and the receiving signal is conducted through a demodulator.
