    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a strapping tool with a scaling assembly including a die assembly and a camshaft. The camshaft includes a cam that engages a cam follower of the die assembly. The cam is shaped so rotation of the camshaft during a scaling cycle causes the cam to force the die assembly to pivot from a home position to a sealing position to form interlocking cuts in overlapping strap portions. Continued rotation of the cam results in the die assembly pivoting back to its home position during an energy-release phase and a return phase of the sealing cycle. During the energy-release phase, the shape of the cam enables the die assembly to pivot a relatively small amount as potential energy is released. During the return phase after this energy is released, the shape of the cam enables the die assembly to pivot a relatively large amount.

    Abstract: A strapping tool configured to carry out a strapping cycle including tensioning and sealing cycles. During the tensioning cycle, the strapping tool drives a tensioning wheel to tension strap around a load. During the sealing cycle, the strapping tool attaches two overlapping portions of the strap to one another by pivoting opposing jaws from home positions to sealing positions to deform the strap before pivoting them back to their home positions to release it. When operated in a sealing-cycle-interrupt operating mode, the strapping tool pauses the sealing cycle after the jaws reach their sealing positions but before they return to their home positions to prevent the tool from being removed from the strap. When a release sensor is triggered responsive to the operator pulling a rocker lever to raise the tension wheel, the strapping tool finishes pivoting the jaws back to their home positions to complete the sealing cycle.

The tensioning assembly is pivotably mounted to the support to enable the operator to pivot the tension wheel away from the tension plate to make room for the strap (or remove the strap).
