  • Patent number: 7711355
Abstract: In the current state of the art there are a number of operable devices 11, 12, 13 known that have an operating panel 14 through which a user of the device 11, 12, 13 can produce and/or change-existing operating states, Because of the fact that manual operation is often very complex and can also result in the distraction of the user in situations that require the full the attention of a user to be directed elsewhere, the invention increases the ease of operation and simultaneously reduces the amount of attention required to be paid to the devices 11, 12, 13. The invention uses a decision unit 15 that blocks or releases certain operating states of the operable device 11, 12, 13 based on the data received. The invention can be implemented, for example, so that a mobile telephone 11 installed in a vehicle 10 does not “transfer” any telephone calls or suppresses the making of telephone calls from within the vehicle 10 when the vehicle 10 is moving faster than a certain speed.

  • Patent number: 7062891
Abstract: A box-closing apparatus has a hanger link having one end pivoted about a fixed link axis on a stationary housing adjacent a station holding a box blank and another end defining a movable link axis. A two-arm main lever pivoted generally centrally at the movable link axis on the link has a pusher arm extending from the movable link axis and carrying a pusher block engageable with the flap of the box blank in the station and an actuating arm extending from the movable link axis and having an outer end. A drive lever pivoted at a fixed drive axis on the housing has an outer end pivoted at an outer drive axis on the outer end of the actuating arm of the main lever. The pusher block moves generally through a 0°–90° sinusoidal trajectory to press an outer flap against a glue flap of the blank in the station.

  • Patent number: 7040479
Abstract: A supply holds a flattened box blank above a conveyor passing having a succession of box seats, and a planet carrier is rotated by its own drive about a sun axis between the supply and the conveyor. A single planetary element on the carrier offset from the sun axis is rotatable about a planet axis parallel to and offset from the sun axis. A grab on the planetary element is engageable with the blank in the supply and in the conveyor seats. A planet drive wheel is fixed to the planetary element, a sun wheel is rotatable about the sun axis, and the wheels are coupled together for joint synchronous rotation. A separate planetary drive connected to the sun wheel rotates the planetary element independently of the carrier such that the grab moves while orbiting about the sun axis through a closed asymmetric path having only two outer points.

  • Patent number: 6702223
Abstract: A winding head of a cheese-producing textile machine, having a device for the accurate determination of the length of yarn traveling through a measuring head (7), and having an evaluating device for accumulating the yarn lengths that have passed. The winding head has a device for determining yarn length portions which are removed in the course of a yarn connecting process. The evaluation device is adapted to subtract the removed yarn lengths from the total length of the yarn (2) which has passed through the measuring head.

  • Patent number: 6582180
Abstract: An object-sorting system has a conveyor having a horizontally extending stretch, a plurality of pushers fixed on and spaced along the conveyor and extending upward from the stretch thereof, and an upright chute adapted to hold a stack of objects and having a downwardly open outlet spaced above an upstream end of the conveyor stretch. An elongated support surface extends horizontally above the stretch and has an upstream end below the outlet port. A drive advances the stretch and thereby displaces the pushers downstream past the outlet so that the pushers engage at least a lowermost object of the stack in the chute and move the engaged object(s) downstream along the support surface. The support surface can pivot about an axis at the support-surface downstream end and thereby change a vertical spacing between the support surface upstream end and the outlet port.

  • Patent number: 6580813
Abstract: A method and apparatus of detecting residual yarn on spinning cop tubes, wherein a spinning cop tube is exposed to a suitable light source; the light reflected by the spinning cop tube is detected by a suitable means, e.g., via a camera or other picture-taking device, and two-dimensional picture signals of the spinning cop tube are generated thereby on the basis of the reflected light detected in order to generate a picture matrix comprising picture data in digital form; and the picture signals thusly generated are evaluated by means of performing an edge filtering of the digital picture data in order to segment image edges corresponding to brightness transitions in the picture matrix, from which the presence of residual yarn on the spinning cop tube can be assessed based on the edge filtering.
