  • Patent number: 7306753
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce a thin porous layer, with a defined porosity and also, a high strength. Said aim is achieved, whereby such a layer with open porosity is produced from a mixture, comprising a sinterable powder with a predetermined powder particle size distribution. The sintered layer is of a thickness, which corresponds to about triple the average diameter of the powder particles employed, has a pore diameter in the range from 0.01 to 50 ?m and a tensile strength of in a range from about 5 to 500 N/mm2. The invention further relates to a method for the production of said thin porous layer with open porosity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 2004
Date of Patent: December 11, 2007
    Assignee: GKN Sinter Metals GmbH
Inventors: Andreas Kuhstoss, Thomas Röthig, Peter Neumann

  • Patent number: 6652804
Abstract: A method for producing a thin openly porous metal film from a metal powder that can be sintered. The metal powder is suspended in a carrier fluid with a specific size distribution of particles, the suspension is applied to a supporting material in at least one thin film and dried, and the green layer thus formed is sintered. The thickness of the layer formed by suspension thus applied corresponds at least to the thickness (s) of the metal film to be produced after sintering, whereby (s) is at least three times the value of the diameter (D) of the powder particles, D=1-50 urn and the maximum thickness of the finished metal film is 500 &mgr;m.
