  • Patent number: 7155337
Abstract: A method for transferring at least one navigation element from a vehicle navigation unit to a master station. The vehicle navigation unit does not include a database sufficient for a route calculation, including an input device via which a user is able to input navigation element data concerning at least one navigation element, the vehicle navigation unit including communications devices, or cooperating with separate communications devices, to exchange data with a master station in which routes are calculated. The vehicle navigation unit includes an arrangement to select at least one navigation element database entry, of a plurality of navigation element database entries, which are transmitted by the master station as response to the navigation element data transmitted to the master station, when the master station is not able uniquely to assign a plurality of navigation element database entries to at least one navigation element.

  • Patent number: 7050791
Abstract: Mobile radio communication messages transmitted by a message service to a terminal are linked to reference information items and tested in the terminal according to validity criteria. The messages are only stored in a non-volatile memory when they are valid; and they are not stored when they are invalid, and/or they are erased from the nonvolatile memory after having been previously stored when they are later determined to be invalid.

  • Publication number: 20050234617
Abstract: A driver assistance system for a motor vehicle includes output means for outputting information to a vehicle driver of the motor vehicle and/or operating means for operation of the driver assistance system by the vehicle driver, and control means for controlling the information output and/or operation. Means for determining a workload state of the vehicle driver are provided; and the control means are embodied for controlling the information output and/or operation as a function of the workload state of the vehicle driver. A driver assistance system has the advantage that operation of the driver assistance system, and information output by the driver assistance system, are adapted to the workload of the vehicle driver, consequently avoiding overload or excessive distraction of the vehicle driver from traffic events, thus contributing to traffic safety.

  • Patent number: 6920327
Abstract: A method for the transmission of data using radio transmission systems between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, and a computer for the allocation of radio transmission systems for the transmission of data between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, which serve to select radio transmission systems dynamically, for a communication from at least one transmitter/receiver station, on the basis of a subscriber profile, a location of the one transmitter/receiver station, and/or a speed of the transmitter/receiver station, in order to transmit data between transmitter/receiver stations. A computer in a switching device calculates which radio transmission system best meets the criteria. During a data transmission, it is possible to switch automatically to a further radio transmission system if the transmission quality of the radio transmission system currently being used declines.

  • Patent number: 6823354
Abstract: A terminal and a method for a terminal using services offered by a master station is proposed. The method allows a user-configured service to be activated at a terminal which is limited in its input possibility. In this context, a first terminal transmits activation data to the master station over a first data network. With the assistance of the activation data, a service identification and a terminal identifier are transmitted to the master station. In the master station, a service is selected as a function of the service identification. The master station transmits service data corresponding to the selected service as a function of the terminal identifier so that the service data is recognized by the first terminal upon reception and initiates functions for implementing the selected service at the first terminal.
