Patent number: 7900941Abstract: A suspension system for providing a suspension between wheels and a frame of a vehicle is provided. The system includes an arm beam pivotally mounted to the frame at its proximate end and coupled at its distal end to a guiding assembly enabling the arm beam to pivot in a vertical direction and to be restrained in lateral directions perpendicular to the vertical direction. The arm beam includes: (a) a spring and damper assembly near its distal end for providing a dampened resilient mount for the suspension; (b) a wheel axle beam coupled to the arm beam for bearing a load borne by the wheels transmitted directly in-line with a central axis of the spring and damper assembly; and (c) a stabilizer coupled between the arm beam and the frame, the stabilizer resisting a lateral rolling motion of the vehicle. The stabilizer is included between the proximate end of the arm beams and their damper and spring assemblies for rendering the system more compact.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2006Date of Patent: March 8, 2011Assignee: Volvo Lastvagnar ABInventor: Andreas Lundmark

Publication number: 20090302592Abstract: Support structure for mounting on a frame of a vehicle to support an object, which comprises an object-supporting part that is adapted to be mounted on a first side of the vehicle frame. It also comprises a mating part that is adapted to be mounted on a second side of the vehicle frame. Either the object-supporting part or the mating part or both comprise at least one pin that is adapted to pass through at least one opening in the vehicle frame and abut against the mating part and/or object-supporting part. The at least one pin is adapted to accommodate any one of a plurality of vehicle frames of different thickness or any part of a vehicle frame of non-uniform thickness between the object-supporting part and the mating part.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2006Publication date: December 10, 2009Inventor: Andreas Lundmark

Patent number: 7543833Abstract: Method and arrangement for providing a suspension for a wheel on a motor vehicle. The wheel suspension includes a stub axle (36, 37) connected to a stub axle carrier (34, 35), a suspension arm (18, 19) which connects the stub axle carrier to the vehicle, and a stabilizer bar (9) fixed transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The suspension arm (18, 19) is fixed against rotation to an outer end (14, 15) of the stabilizer bar and rotatably attached in at least one position (22, 23) axially separated from the outer end of the stabilizer bar. The invention also relates to a vehicle provided with such an arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2004Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Volvo Lastvagnar ABInventor: Andreas Lundmark

Publication number: 20080290623Abstract: A wheel suspension for the suspension of a wheel in a motor vehicle includes a wheel spindle connected to a steering knuckle holder, a link arm connecting the steering knuckle holder to the vehicle, and a stabilizer fastened transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The link arm is attached in a rotationally fixed manner to an outer end of the stabilizer, and is attached in a rotationally fixed manner in at least one position axially removed from the outer end of the stabilizer. A vehicle provided with such a wheel suspension is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2005Publication date: November 27, 2008Applicant: VOLVO LASTVAGNAR ABInventor: Andreas Lundmark
