Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of making a ceramic article. The method includes (a) obtaining a photopolymerizable slurry or sol including a plurality of ceramic particles distributed in the photopolymerizable slurry or sol and (b) selectively polymerizing the photopolymerizable slurry or sol using actinic radiation and continuous movement of a build substrate through the photopolymerizable slurry or sol to form a gelled article. The method also includes (c) extracting solvent from the gelled article to form an aerogel article or a xerogel article; (d) heat treating the aerogel article or the xerogel article to form a porous ceramic article; and (e) sintering the porous ceramic article to form a sintered ceramic article. The sintered ceramic article exhibits a particular density. Further, additive manufactured ceramic articles are provided that exhibit a particular density, opacity, or both.

  • Patent number: 10571250
Abstract: Problem: To provide a device, system, method, and program able to easily measure retroreflective coefficients using a commercially available mobile terminal having an imaging unit. Resolution Means: A device is provided that has an imaging unit for capturing an image of a target object, an observation angle acquiring unit for acquiring an observation angle determined by a positional relationship between the imaging unit, a light source for emitting light for capture and the target object, an entrance angle acquiring unit for acquiring an entrance angle of light emitted for capture incident on the target object, a converting unit for converting image data of an image to a luminance value of the target object using capture information of the image, and a calculating unit for calculating a value of a retroreflective coefficient of the target object based on an illuminance value and the luminance value of the target object.

  • Publication number: 20190344496
Abstract: The method of making a three-dimensional article includes heating a composition comprising a fluoropolymer and inorganic filler, extruding the composition in molten form from an extrusion head to provide at least a portion of a first layer of the three-dimensional article, and extruding at least a second layer of the composition in molten form from the extrusion head onto at least the portion of the first layer to make at least a portion of the three-dimensional article. Three-dimensional articles are also described. A composition including a fluoropolymer and inorganic fillers is also described. The composition may be a filament. The composition can be useful, for example, in melt extrusion additive manufacturing. The fluoropolymer is semi-crystalline with a melting point of up to 325° C. and less than 50 percent by weight interpolymerized units of vinylidene fluoride or amorphous with a glass transition temperature of up to 280° C.
