Abstract: A method for remote control of an electric consumer end device with a power adapter, for switching supply of power of the electric consumer on and off, whereby a central e-server may select, depending on the automatically recognized type of the electric consumer end device, a power-saving profile assigned to the type of the electric consumer, and may control the power adapter depending on the selected power-saving profile, where the control comprises causing the power adaptor to switch the supply of power of the consumer end device on or off based on the power-saving profile.

Abstract: Method for preparing and transmitting SMS messages in a mobile radio network, wherein a mobile radio user sends with his mobile device a USSD message comprising a service code for identifying a SMS sending service as well as an identification of the recipient and a text field. This USSD message is forwarded to a USSD handler. A gateway connected with this USSD handler converts said USSD message into at least one SMS message. Said SMS message is forwarded over a short message center to said recipient.

Abstract: A method for loading or reloading a SIM card (7) for a mobile device (6). The SIM card (7) has an electronic chip with a storage device (11). In the storage device (11) a monetary sum (28) is stored, and decreases as the mobile telephone is used. For loading or reloading the monetary sum, a prepayable value card (13) is purchased. The value card (13) has a code field (14) covered by a removable opaque layer (22). Upon removal of the layer (22), a code (15) becomes visible. The holder of the SIM card and the value card calls a service number using a communication apparatus (6, 8). The caller is thereby connected to a data base (17) in which all codes assigned to value cards (13) and the sum of money associated with each code are stored. The caller is prompted to enter the code (15) on the calling communication apparatus. The code (15) entered is compared with the codes stored in the data base (6, 8).

Abstract: A subscriber identification SIM card for a mobile telephone comprises an advice of charge counter ACM indicating the amount corresponding to the communications carried out with the card. An EEPROM memory in the card includes a file ACMmax, indicating the maximum value of the advice of charge counter, and at least one file EFFDN indicating at least one telephone number free of charge. The invention compares the amount indicated by the advice of charge counter with the maximum amount of the advice of charge counter and blocks calls according to the result supplied. However, the invention does not block calls intended for one or more predetermined numbers stored on the card. It is thus possible to call, for example, an emergency number or the number of a server to reload the card, in the case of a prepayment card, even after the credit on the card has been used up.
