  • Publication number: 20100155408
Abstract: A tank ventilation system for a motor vehicle has a fuel tank (4) and a pressure holding valve device (20) that function to maintain a slight positive pressure in the fuel tank (4) above fuel (8) in the fuel tank (4) by discharging an excess gas volumetric flow (16, 17). To optimize the tank ventilation system during fueling of the motor vehicle, the pressure holding valve device (20) has a throughflow cross section that is variable as a function of the discharged gas volumetric flow (16, 17) and increases with a rising gas volumetric flow (16, 17).

  • Publication number: 20090250122
Abstract: A tank ventilation system for a motor vehicle includes a tank (1) for combustible fuels. An activated carbon filter (20) is connected to the tank (1) via a connecting line (7) and adsorbs hydrocarbon vapors of the tank (1) for deaeration. An electrically activatable check valve (30) is in the connecting line. A differential pressure sensor (3) measures the pressure difference between the vapor chamber (21) of the tank (1) and the environment. The connecting line is formed without a vacuum valve. A mechanical vacuum valve (6) is provided for tank aeration with respect to the environment. The check valve is closed if the pressure difference measured by the differential pressure sensor is below a fixed, positive threshold value, and is open if the pressure difference is above the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20090139783
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle is optionally driven by an electrical machine which can be supplied with power from a galvanic cell or which, during a generating operation, supplies the galvanic cell with power, and by an internal-combustion engine which can be supplied with a combustible liquid from a tank. An activated carbon canister is assigned to the tank for collecting vapors of the combustible liquid, the activated carbon canister being connectible, as required, with the intake system of the internal-combustion engine for carrying out a scavenging, wherein the activated carbon canister is positioned in the area of the galvanic cell.

  • Patent number: 7477404
Abstract: The invention relates to embodiments of a method and a system for monitoring the correct positioning of a test element in a test element receptacle of an analysis unit, the test element carrying a sample to be analyzed by the analysis unit. Using a delimiting element, responsive signals resulting from irradiating an analysis region on the test element are effectively prevented from impinging upon a signal detector when the analysis region is in an incorrect position relative to the analysis unit. The delimiting element is provided with a light-opaque region and a light-transmissive region, and the light-opaque region is positioned such that responsive signals impinge upon it rather than the light-transmissive region when the analysis region is in an incorrect position.

  • Publication number: 20090012374
Abstract: A portable medical system is provided for the purposes of analysis and/or medication, the system having at least one of a medical monitoring device, an analysis device and a medication device. The portable medical system comprises at least one display element comprising at least one organic light-emitting diode display. An optimization device can be provided that comprises a brightness sensor and is configured to optimize the brightness, contrast and/or power consumption of the at least one display element. Furthermore, a monitoring device can be provided which monitors the functionality of the display element. Faults in the display element can be detected in this way, and a corresponding warning can be output to a person using the portable medical system.

  • Publication number: 20080242962
Abstract: The analyte concentration, such as glucose, in a human or animal body is measured with an implantable sensor that generates measurement signals. The measurement signals are compressed through statistical techniques to produced compressed measurement data that can is easier to process and communicate. A base station carries the implantable sensor along with a signal processor, memory, and a transmitter. A display device is also disclosed that can receive the compressed measurement data from the base station for further processing and display.
