  • Patent number: 6676956
Abstract: The invention relates to an oil-in-water emulsion comprising, as an active ingredient, &agr;-tocopherol or the stereoisomers thereof and comprising, as an emulsifier, phospholipids. The inventive emulsion is used in order to attain a protective action against damages to human organs resulting from peroxidation. The emulsion contains a &agr;-tocopherol content, with regard to action, of 1.48 g/l to 30 g/l RRR-g(a)-tocopherol, 0-25 g/l of an oil which is compatible with I.V. administration, and 0.25 g/l to 3 g/l of a phospholipid. The emulsion is preferably administered as an infusion and is especially used to reduce damages resulting from peroxidation due to ischemia and /or reperfusion and, among other things, during an organ transplantation.

  • Publication number: 20030037654
Abstract: An improved apparatus for generating a high-pressure fluid jet includes an orifice mount having a frusto-conical surface that engages a frusto-conical wall in a cutting head, the geometry of the orifice mount and cutting head being selected to increase the stability of the mount and reduce deflection of the mount adjacent a jewel orifice, when subjected to pressure. Alignment of a nozzle body and the cutting head is improved by providing pilot diameters both upstream and downstream of threads on the nozzle body and bore of the cutting head, respectively. Accurate placement of a mixing tube in a cutting head is achieved by rigidly fixing a collar to an outer surface of the mixing tube, the collar engaging a shoulder and bore of the cutting head downstream of a mixing chamber, to precisely locate the mixing chamber axially and radially.

  • Publication number: 20030037650
Abstract: An apparatus for generating and manipulating a high-pressure fluid jet includes an end effector assembly coupled to a manipulator that imparts motion to the end effector along one or more axes. The end effector assembly includes a cutting head coupled to a source of high-pressure fluid and to a source of abrasive, to generate a high-pressure abrasive fluid jet. A motion assembly is coupled to the cutting head via a clamp positioned around the cutting head. A nozzle body assembly is removably coupled to the cutting head assembly upstream of the orifice. The nozzle body assembly may be separated from the cutting head assembly to allow access to the orifice, without removing the cutting head assembly from the clamp. The clamp has a quick release mechanism, allowing an operator to open the clamp by hand to allow access to the cutting head, and an alignment member is provided on an inner surface of the clamp to accurately locate the cutting head in the clamp.

  • Publication number: 20020114374
Abstract: A mirror for laser application and a method for manufacturing the mirror is disclosed herein. The mirror comprises several layers including a top layer used as the mirror surface. A cooling structure including a plurality of cooler layers are providing between the top layer, several intermediate layers and a bottom layer. Connections are provided for allowing a coolant to flow within the mirror. The mirror is constructed by stacking the layers on top of one another and connecting adjacent layers together by direct copper bonding or active soldering.

  • Patent number: 5559850
Abstract: An x-ray diagnostics installation has an x-ray generator, an x-ray tube and an x-ray image intensifier to which a video camera with a CCD image sensor is coupled. The video camera includes a control generator that is connected to a control output of the x-ray generator and to the CCD image sensor, and controls the latter such that the read-out clock is interrupted synchronously with the video clock on the basis of a signal supplied by the x-ray generator.

  • Patent number: 4606900
Abstract: There is disclosed an improvement in the preparation of a crystalline zeolitic aluminosilicate with an atomic Si-to-Al ratio .gtoreq.10 by hydrothermal crystallization from a reaction batch that contains SiO.sub.2 and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 or their hydrated derivatives or alkali silicates and aluminates along with crystallization accelerators and optionally in the copresence of a quaternary ammonium compound amino or mixture of alcohol and ammonia, in an aqueous and alkaline medium, the improvement wherein an aged but still X-ray amorphous aluminosilicate nucleating gel with an atomic Si-to-Al ratio .gtoreq.10 is added to the reaction batch as a crystallization accelerator.

  • Patent number: 4231660
Abstract: Disclosed is a slide for supporting matter to be observed under a microscope, including a base, a plurality of electrical conductors disposed on the base, an insulating coating distributed over the base to isolate the matter from the conductor, and a plurality of microscopic perforations through the coating and communicating with the conductors, thereby permitting electrical contact between the conductors and a plurality of precise areas of the matter. The slide further includes a plurality of attraction zones on the surface of the coating adapted to cause matter to accumulate on the slide in a predetermined pattern with respect to the perforations.

  • Patent number: 4020591
Abstract: A tunnel-type greenhouse is packed in a mailing tube with wires constituting support-wicket halves received in a core tube on which a synthetic-resin foil usable as the greenhouse wall is wound. The wire wicket halves are joined together by short sleeves and formed into wickets that are driven into the ground in a row. The foil is unwound from the core tube which is broken in two at a central weakened region to form two stakes that are driven into the ground at the ends of the row. String unwound from the ends of the core tube is secured between these stakes and the apices of the end wickets. The foil is stretched between the stakes over the wickets and extra wickets may be engaged over the foil to hold it in place.
