  • Patent number: 12656059
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process for removing water from a particulate material selected from (oxy)hydroxides and carbonates containing at least one of nickel, cobalt, and at least one metal other than nickel. The process includes the step of introducing at least one particulate material with a water content in the range of from 1 to 30% by weight, referring to said particulate material, into a rotary kiln with external heating elements and moving it through the rotary kiln together with a flow of a gas. The residual moisture of the resultant product is in the range of from 50 ppm to 1.5% by weight.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 16, 2026
    Assignee: BASF SE
Inventors: Timo Hensler, Andreas Michael Kern, Raquel Fiz Gonzalez, Thorsten Beierling
  • Publication number: 20260155470
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a process and a device for producing a copper composite material including copper and carbon, such as graphite, and having improved processibility and/or metal recovery in processes for recycling and/or recovery of valuable metals. The composite material is a useful intermediate in the recycling of lithium ion batteries.

  • Patent number: 11394026
Abstract: Process for making an electrode active material for a lithium ion battery, said process comprising the following steps: (a) Contacting a mixture of (A) a precursor of a mixed oxide according to general formula Li1+xTM1?xO2, wherein TM is a combination of two or more transition metals selected from Mn, Co and Ni, optionally in combination with at least one more metal selected from Ba, Al, Ti, Zr, W, Fe, Cr, K, Mo, Nb, Mg, Na and V, and x is in the range of from zero to 0.2, and (B) at least one lithium compound, with (C) Br2, I2, or at least one compound selected from carbon perhalides selected from the bromides and iodides, and interhalogen compounds comprising bromine or iodine, and (b) Subjecting said mixture to heat treatment at a temperature in the range of from 700 to 1000° C.
