    Abstract: A system for tracking cables is disclosed includes a cable socket and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag placed near an end of at least one of the cables, where the end of the at least one cable is configured to be inserted into the cable socket. The system also includes a reader device having at least one antenna positioned near the cable socket and being configured to transmit a radio frequency (RF) signal to interrogate the RFID tag and thereby track the cables.
