  • Patent number: 7747869
Abstract: Method of detecting an unauthorized exchange of components in the case of a technical system, where the control unit (1) sends an encoded message (3) to a component (2) to be checked, in a data field of the message (3) a randomly generated or not easily reproducible value (5, 6) being entered, which is used for checking the installed component (2). The component (2) accesses an assignment field (8) and, as a result, assigns an identification (9) to each not easily reproducible or random value (5, 6) transmitted together with the message (3), and the component (2) transmits the identification corresponding to the value (5, 6) back to the control unit (1). The control unit (1) decides on the basis of the identification (9) whether the component (2) is that the component (2) which is authorized for use in the particular technical system.

  • Patent number: 7567884
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting the presence of a prescribed heat exchanger, such as a catalytically active radiator, in a motor vehicle are performed during operation of the motor vehicle. The temperature of a heat-exchanger medium is observed together with further current operationally relevant parameters of the motor vehicle for a prespecified time window. An expected temperature gradient over time of the heat-exchanger medium is detected, as well as the current temperature gradient over time of the temperature of the heat-exchanger medium. The presence of a prescribed heat exchanger is detected taking into account the expected temperature gradient and the current temperature gradient.

  • Patent number: 7443280
Abstract: In a rolling-code based process and system for the unambiguous identification of serial numbers in a data communication system, least two subscribers each have an identical serial number set. The process includes a) the first subscriber transmitting a first challenge with respect to a serial number from the serial number set to the second subscriber; b) subscriber responding the second subscriber by a first response corresponding to the first challenge; generating an identification signal for the second subscriber which unambiguously identifies the second subscriber with respect to the first subscriber if the first response corresponds to the serial number expected on the basis of the first challenge of the first subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20050077026
Abstract: A catalytic motor vehicle radiator for cooling a coolant flowing through it has a catalytically acting surface for converting a pollutant into an environmentally compatible material, a temperature sensor for sensing a coolant temperature, and an attachment point for attaching the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor has an attachment for attaching the temperature sensor to the attachment point of the catalytic motor vehicle radiator, and includes an electrical identification unit for identifying the catalytic motor vehicle radiator. The attachment interacts with an attachment point of the catalytic motor vehicle radiator in such a way that, if the temperature sensor is removed from the catalytic motor vehicle radiator, the temperature sensor is destroyed.
