  • Publication number: 20090036576
Abstract: The present invention relates to fermentation processes for the production of cyanophycin in a microorganism whereby a plant-derived nitrogen source is converted by the microorganism into cyanophycin. The plant-derived nitrogen source preferably is a process stream being obtained in the processing of agricultural crops such as e.g., a by-product in the processing of starch from agricultural crops like corn, potato or cassave. The invention further relates to processes for the conversion of cyanophycin into a variety of compounds including e.g., ornithine, 1,4-butanediamine, n-alkyl amino alcohols, acrylonitrile, as well as cyanophycin derived functionalised poly(aspartic acid)s wherein the arginine residues have been functionalised to ornithine, (N-L-arginino)succinate, N-phospho-L-arginine or agmantine and the lysine residues have been functionalised to N6-hydroxy-L-lysine, 2,5-diaminohexanoate, N6-(L-1,3-dicarboxypropyl), pentanediamine, 5-aminopentanamide or N6-acetyl-L-lysine.

  • Publication number: 20080096242
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of fermentation technology. In particular the invention relates to fermentation processes for the production of a first and a second fermentation product by a single production organism wherein the first product is in a more reduced state than the substrate and the second fermentation product is in a more oxidised state than the substrate yet in a less oxidised state than the final oxidation product CO2, such that the concurrent synthesis of the first and second product in the organism allows recycling of reducing power and can be performed under (partially) anaerobic conditions. The invention also relates to such processes in which the first and second fermentation products are capable of forming a(n) (insoluble) complex or salt.

  • Publication number: 20030229205
Abstract: A tabular silver halide emulsion wherein the tabular grains account for more than 75% of the total grain projected area said emulsion comprising silver halide grains nucleated in the presence of nucleation peptizer and thereafter grown in the presence of growth peptizer, wherein at least one of the peptizers is substantially pure collagen like material prepared by genetic engineering, said peptizer having an amino acid sequence comprising more than 4 different amino acids. A process of preparing the AgX emulsion. A process of producing recombinant collagen like polypeptide comprising expression of a collagen like polypeptide encoding nucleic acid sequence by a microorganism to a degree exceeding 0.95 grammes /liter, said recombinant collagen being free of helix structure and preferably the expression occurring in a microorganism other than E. coli or Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
