  • Patent number: 7451860
Abstract: For a device for the amplitude-dependent absorption of shocks, especially of the wheel of a vehicle, with at least one working piston (3), which is disposed within an absorbing housing (1) and connected with a piston rod (2) and divides the absorbing housing (1) into two absorbing spaces (4, 5) and interacts with a hydraulic element, which is disposed in parallel for affecting small amplitudes and has a space (15) with a dividing element, the space (15) being tied in with hydraulic tie-ins with the absorbing spaces (4, 5), the greatest possible absence of wear and a soft response of the working piston are to be achieved. For this purpose, it is proposed that the dividing element consists of a foamed, elastic material.

  • Patent number: 7441639
Abstract: A dashpot featuring amplitude-dependent shock absorption, especially intended for the wheel of a vehicle and including a hydraulically parallel cylindrical pressure-compensation chamber (8). The pressure-compensation chamber is partitioned by an axially displaceable floating piston (10). At least one face (25) of the floating piston is provided with a resilient bumper (18). The object is a dashpot with a floating piston that arrives more gently at its limit inside the pressure-compensation chamber (8). The bumper is accordingly accommodated in an axial hollow (17) that extends through the body (15) of the floating piston.

  • Patent number: 7311182
Abstract: To make a sealing and guiding packet available to shock dampers in order to minimize or even entirely prevent the negative effects of the so-called stick-slip effect and thus permit greater riding comfort, a sealing and guiding packet is proposed which comprises the following features: a) A cylindrical gasket (6) surrounding an oscillating piston rod (10) and in contact with the latter, which has a first and a second end face (6a, 6b) and a cylindrical mantle surface (6c), b) a cylindrical elastomer element (7) surrounding the ring (6), which has two radially extending flanges (7a, 7b), which thrust the ring (6) resiliently against the end faces, and which [elastomer element] has a radially extending third flange (7c) which biases the ring against the piston rod surface; as well as c) tightening elements (1; 1.1, 1.2, 1.3; 4) which in the working state keep the elastomer element (7) under bias both in the axial and in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: 6811156
Abstract: A seal for hydraulically sealing a piston rod that travels axially into and out of a housing, preferably in a hydraulic dashpot. The seal comprises a preferably resilient-plastic sealing component (5). The sealing component is provided with one or more sharp ridges (10, 11, & 12) that rest against the piston rod, is tensioned across an elastomeric component (8), and is radially and axially secured along with the latter in a seal holder (2). The sealing component has an axial cylindrical wall (6) and a radial annular flange (7). The wall rests snug against the piston rod. The elastomeric component is annular and is provided with an inner surface (9) that tapers in toward the center of the housing and that the wall rests against. The outer surface of the elastomeric component is accommodated subject to radial tension in a setback (13) in the seal holder.

  • Publication number: 20040026872
Abstract: An assembly for sealing and centering a piston rod (3) at its point of penetration in a two-cylinder dashpot or two-cylinder telescoping leg. The assembly seals and centers it as the piston rod travels into and out of the dashpot. The assembly is provided with at least one seal (13) outside the dashpot, toward the inside with at least one piston-rod sealing ring (7), and with at least one channel between them. The channel extends into a gas accommodating space (19) left between the dashpot's outer cylinder (1) and its inner cylinder (2). The gas channel is provided with a checkvalve. One object is components that eliminate the need for a high-pressure sealing ring in contact with the piston rod. Another object is a simpler checkvalve in the overflow channel. The gas channel upstream of the gas-accommodating space is provided with a flow-controlling diaphragm (22).

  • Patent number: 6668452
Abstract: A piston-rod scraping ring (7) of elastic material accommodated in an inward opening groove (9) in a dashpot cap (2) and especially intended to scrape water and dirt off a piston rod (1). The object is to allow the ring to be easily inserted into the groove and secured there until the overall dashpot is assembled. The groove is accordingly higher at its outer circumference and its inner circumference (12) is deformed, compressing the rim (8) in place.

  • Publication number: 20030070893
Abstract: A hydraulic dashpot with a piston rod that travels back and forth into and out of a cylinder (4), which it is sealed off from and aligned with by a sheet-metal subassembly. The sealing-and alignment assembly consists of a support with a collar that can accommodate a piston-rod centering sleeve (5) and of a seal (6) reinforced by a sheet-metal disc and whereby the support and/or the disc (7) are in one or more components. To further simplify the sealing-and-alignment assembly and to simplify the assembly's structure not only as such but in conjunction with the dashpot, at least one component of the support (1) is form fit or substance fit to at least one component of the sheet-metal disc 7.
