Abstract: An efficient transmission of route information, especially also in remote areas for which a terminal unit has no detailed map or location reference list, is made possible by a terminal unit, a central traffic station and a process for the transmission of route information concerning a route of a vehicle in a traffic network between a central traffic station and a terminal unit in a vehicle. The route information concerns path points lying on the route, wherein a path point is defined at every location where it is recommended that the vehicle turns off from a road. The next road following in the driving direction of the route, the location of the path point, and the driving direction after the path point are designated in each instance in route information for a path point.

Abstract: A suitable selection of information sent by a central traffic station with respect to its relevance for a route of a vehicle with a terminal unit through the traffic network is made possible by a terminal unit and by a process for the selection of traffic information which is relevant to a route of a vehicle in a traffic network, which vehicle has a terminal unit, and which is transmitted by a central station. The route is determined in the form of path points between a starting point and a destination in the traffic network. A zone is defined for the selection of relevant traffic information between two path points. Traffic information concerning a location in the zone is selected as relevant, while traffic information concerning a location outside of the zone is defined as irrelevant.

Abstract: Comfortable navigation is made possible with a small amount of transmitted information by a terminal unit, a central station and a process for the transmission of route information completely defining a route of a vehicle in a traffic network, which route is suggested as a navigation aid, from a central traffic station to a terminal unit in the vehicle. The route information concerns path points located on the suggested route, wherein a path point is defined wherever it is recommended by the central traffic station that the vehicle turn off from a road. Additional information defining the next path point following in the driving direction of the suggested route is transmitted in addition to route information at a path point.
