  • Patent number: 11780118
Abstract: A method for impregnating a polymeric granulate with a physical blowing agent is disclosed. The polymeric granulate can be a typical material such as a polycarbonate that is used in foam injection moulding processes. The physical blowing agent can be carbon dioxide which impregnates that polymeric granulate at a temperature range of 40° to 120° C. and a pressure range of 15 to 55 bar. Preferably, the polymeric granulate is heated in a range of 50° to 90° with a range of 60° to 80° preferred. A pressure range of 25 to 45 bar is preferred with a range of 30 to 40 bar more preferred.

  • Publication number: 20130180620
Abstract: For supplying a sink with liquid carbon dioxide with a required temperature of more than 0° C. and with a required pressure of more than 30 bar, liquid carbon dioxide is taken from a tank, in which it has been stored at a temperature below the required temperature and at a pressure below the required pressure. The pressure of the carbon dioxide is increased and then the carbon dioxide is heated to the required temperature.

  • Patent number: 6418732
Abstract: A process and device is provided for cooling extruded hollow sections, especially pipes, that are made of plastic. Liquid or supercritical carbon dioxide is directed into the interior of the plastic hollow section through an extruder head and is depressurized in at least one depressurization nozzle, whereby carbon dioxide in gaseous and solid form is produced. The carbon dioxide that is in gaseous form is directed to the inner wall of the hollow section, while carbon dioxide snow is brought into heat exchange with the inner wall of hollow section only to the extent that the latter is not damaged.
