  • Publication number: 20180157317
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for haptic interaction with virtual objects. The system of the invention is based on the idea that, for the haptic representation of any virtual three-dimensional object—synchronized with the visual representation—only the tangible haptic characteristics of the surface area of the object at the collision point or the area of contact are important. The haptic display system (morphling) of the invention that displays these characteristics comprises in principle three functional groups, which operate in synchronism with one another and with a visual subsystem. The individual subsystems can be operated statically or dynamically. In dynamic operation, users can change the position and/or shape, for example, of the tactile display by touching it. With regard to the real-time representation of the three-dimensional data of the user, at least the body part that is interacting with the object, e.g.

  • Patent number: 9620008
Abstract: The invention regards a method for assisting a driver of a vehicle by computationally predicting a future movement behavior of a target vehicle. The method comprises steps of acquiring data describing a traffic environment of a host vehicle, computing a plurality of future movement behavior alternatives for a target vehicle, by predicting movement behavior of the target vehicle based on the data describing the traffic environment. The prediction step calculates a probability that the target object will execute a movement behavior and information relating to future behavior of the target vehicle is output. The method estimates a global scene context and adapts the predicted behavior based on the estimated global scene context. The adaptation of the behavior prediction is performed by at least one of adapting indicator values in situation models employed by a context-based prediction, by adapting a result of the context-based prediction and adapting the overall prediction result.

  • Publication number: 20160236683
Abstract: A method for improving prediction results of advanced driver assistance systems of a vehicle includes obtaining map data including information about a road geometry in a proximity of the vehicle. A sensor means is assigned, sensing a surrounding of the vehicle. A virtual sensing means output is generated, corresponding to an output of the sensing means if the sensing means. The generation is based on a mathematical model of the sensing means. The surrounding of the vehicle is sensed, and a sensing means output is generated. The sensing means output is compared to the virtual sensing means output. Parameters of the mathematical model are modified, and the virtual sensing means output are generated and compared to the sensing means output. Map data is combined with information derived from the sensing means output to generate combined information, which is output for further processing.

  • Patent number: 9363004
Abstract: Described herein are one or more apparatus, that at least partially synchronize with a first radio-frequency signal from a first antenna element, of an array of spatially distributed antenna elements in a multi-antenna array receiver, to determine the position of at least one of a repeated guard interval in the first radio-frequency signal from the first antenna element, the repeat occurring at a particular defined characteristic interval. • Patent number: 9029131
Abstract: In a microfluidic processor with integrated active elements for handling process media, the active elements act by changes in their volume, swelling degree, material composition, their strength and/or viscosity. The procedures to be performed are defined already by the constructive configuration of the microfluidic processor by an appropriate logic connection of the individual active elements defined in their function, by the sequence of the temporal activation of the individual elements, and with respect to their processing speed and their precision. The process is enabled by action of a substantially non-directional collectively acting environmental parameter, in particular, the presence of a solvent or environmental temperature or both.

  • Patent number: 8562304
Abstract: An electrical motor activation method for an electric motor including a rotor, connected to a motor shaft, and a stator having brushes. The stator comprises multiple commutator laminations for the commutation of windings disposed on the rotor and is activated by a pulsed or linearly controllable power source. The motor shaft is connected to a radially driven load, in particular a pump, which has a nonlinear torque curve via a motor revolution. A waviness signal is obtained from a voltage potential applied to the motor and/or from the motor current and rotor position information is obtained from the curve of said waviness signal.

  • Patent number: 8264408
Abstract: A system used for calibrating a direction-finding system. A device may include a signal receiver array. The signal receiver array may be utilized to determine the direction of arrival for signals emitted by other devices, and therefore, may be used to resolve the direction towards another device using the received signal. For example, an external tag may be utilized to emit a wireless signal usable inducing a response in each signal receiver of the signal receiver array. The device may also include one or more sensors usable in determining device orientation and/or a change in device orientation. The combined signal receiver response information and orientation information may be recorded at various instants as the device is moved for use in calibrating the antenna array.

  • Patent number: 8116301
Abstract: The present invention is embodied in a digital communication system where multiple media data sources are time multiplexed into a packetized data stream, each packet having an assigned priority and the packetized data stream transmitted in substantially the order of assigned priority. At both the transmit side, and the receive side, audio packets are given priority processing over video packets, which in turn have priority over text/graphics data packets. Continuous real time audio playback is maintained at the receiver by delaying the playback of received audio in a first in/first out (FIFO) buffer providing a delay at least equal to the predicted average packet delay for the communication system. Optionally, the average system delay is continuously monitored, and the audio playback delay time is adjusted accordingly. Audio playback is slowed or accelerated in order to shrink or grow the difference in time between the sender and receiver.
