  • Patent number: 7381149
Abstract: A method and a device for operating a drive unit provide a switch between half-engine operation and full-engine operation. A switch takes place between two operating states of a first component of the drive unit as a function of a first performance quantity of the drive unit. A switch takes place between two operating states of a second component of the drive unit as a function of a second performance quantity of the drive unit. A check is performed whether switching between two operating states of the second component results in a shift of the first performance quantity over a switching threshold for switching between two operating states of the first component, and if so, the switch between the two operating states of second component is delayed until a switch between the two operating states of first component has occurred.

  • Patent number: 7377239
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine, a computer program product, a computer program, and a control and/or regulating device for an internal combustion engine make detection of an erroneously permanently closed intake valve for a cylinder of the internal combustion engine having more than one intake valve possible. Air and fuel are supplied to the cylinder of the internal combustion engine via a plurality of intake valves. The air and fuel are supplied to the cylinder via a shared duct, which opens into separate ducts for each intake valve of the cylinder. The separate ducts have the same volume. After an interruption of the fuel supply to the cylinder, the fuel supply is resumed. Starting at a first point in time of the resumption of the fuel supply, the fuel quantity supplied to one of the separate ducts is ascertained assuming a permanently closed associated intake valve.

  • Publication number: 20080120012
Abstract: A method and a device for operating an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinder banks which allow a simple diagnosis of a faulty deactivation of the gas exchange of at least one cylinder bank, or a simple determination of the ambient pressure. In the process, in addition to at least one first cylinder bank having activated gas exchange of at least one cylinder, a deactivation of the gas exchange of all cylinders of at least one second cylinder bank is initiated in at least one operating state of the internal combustion engine. The at least one second cylinder bank is assigned a separate intake tract. In the at least one operating state, a variable that is characteristic for the pressure in the intake tract of the at least one second cylinder bank is measured and evaluated for the presence of undesired pressure pulsations.

  • Publication number: 20080027623
Abstract: In order to achieve at least a short-term reduction of the torque of an internal combustion engine (2), which comprises a range as widely adjustable as possible, causes a slight as possible thermal stress on the components of the attached exhaust gas system (5) and allows for a reduction of the fuel consumption, it is proposed that in addition to the cut off of the fuel-delivery control phase of a cylinder (4), an intake valve (17) associated with the cylinder is cut off.

  • Publication number: 20070080331
Abstract: A rope loop (15) sheathed by at least one protective sleeve can be anchored in the floor (12) with its two rope ends (13, 14) in a wire rope anchor, in particular for rockfall or avalanche protection systems. The rope ends (13, 14) are pressed together with a connection piece (20). This connection piece (20) comprises a connection part (22) for connecting a longitudinal element (25) that can also be anchored in the floor (12) on the side facing away from the rope ends (13, 14). In this way the wire rope anchor can then be affixed to conventional anchor rods representing the longitudinal elements. The drill pipe can also be left to remain in the floor following drilling, and the wire rope anchor can be screwed onto this drill pipe equipped with a screw thread.

  • Publication number: 20070054878
Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease, leading to joint destruction. Conventional therapy is based on pain-reduction and an improvement in the frictional properties of joints, in order to delay the time for operative intervention. A lack of specifically-acting agents for drug-based therapy for arthritis exists. The formulations comprise sulphated hyaluronic acids with varying degrees of sulphation, or the pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof and, optionally, hyaluronic acid and/or hyaluronic acid uronide. The pharmaceutical formulations are highly concentrated injection preparations with an aqueous, viscous, gel-like, or paste-like form, or a low-concentration rinsing fluid for intra-articular application.

  • Patent number: 6892691
Abstract: The operation of an internal combustion engine under unfavorable operating conditions can lead to the formation of deposits in the combustion chamber (4). A method and an arrangement for operating an internal combustion engine (1), especially of a motor vehicle, is suggested, wherein fuel is conducted into a combustion chamber (4) and is there combusted. When deposits are detected in the combustion chamber (4), measures are initiated in a targeted manner for cleansing the combustion chamber (4). A knocking combustion is especially introduced and/or a cleansing liquid is added to the inducted combustion air.
