  • Patent number: 7794576
Abstract: An electrophoresis gel matrix is provided for conducting proteomics, in particular the steps of separating and/or identifying proteins. The matrix comprises at least one chemical reagent being at least one of a denaturing, buffering, disaggregating, reducing, staining or dissolving reagent, and a volume of dimethylsulfoxide. The use of such a matrix, which is provided to be filled into an electrophoresis capillary being part of a microfluidic device for carrying out proteomics, leads to an enhanced resolution of proteins. The matrix is prepared adding a volume of dimethylsulfoxide ranging from 4% to 15%, preferably from 5% to 10%, most preferably from 6% to 8% with respect to the total volume of chemical reagents being comprised in the matrix. A method is provided for preparation of the matrix for conducting proteomics and a method is conducted to carry out proteomics by the use of this matrix.

  • Publication number: 20090056425
Abstract: A method for preparing a microfluidic chip is described, the microfluidic chip comprising a micro-channel system with at least one micro-channel. The method comprises supplying one or more fluids to at least one predefined section of the micro-channel system or to the whole micro-channel system, and freezing the entire microfluidic chip by exposing the microfluidic chip to a temperature below ?5° C., wherein the one or more fluids contained in the micro-channel system are frozen solid.

  • Publication number: 20090061525
Abstract: A method for analyzing a sample comprising different sample compounds is described. The method comprises staining the sample compounds by adding a dye species to a solution of the sample, the dye species having reactive groups adapted for forming covalent bonds with specific groups of the sample compounds, and providing the modified sample compounds to a microfluidic chip, the microfluidic chip being adapted to provide an electrophoretic separation. The method further comprises electrophoretically separating the modified sample compounds, and detecting separated compounds.

  • Publication number: 20080302191
Abstract: A sample loading device for loading and injecting a sample of a specimen is provided. The device comprises an injection channel having a sample injection spot, the injection channel adapted for feeding a fluid comprising a specimen. It further comprises an injector for injecting the specimen into the fluid along the injection channel and a separation device adapted for separating a sample from the specimen at the sample injection spot. Furthermore it comprises a control unit adapted for controlling the separation device in response to a detected physical parameter of the fluid.

  • Publication number: 20070161118
Abstract: A method for mixing at least two fluids comprising: (a) introducing the at least two fluids into a common first conduit which includes a junction with a second conduit and transporting the fluids to the junction, (b) subjecting the fluids in the first conduit at the junction to a force in order to alternately change the direction of flow of the fluids.
