Abstract: The invention relates to a vaporizer comprising a housing, a housing cap, which covers an end of the housing and has a vapor discharge opening, and a heating element, which sits in the housing and protrudes into the housing cap, wherein an annular gap is provided between the heating element and the housing and also between the heating element and the housing cap and connects an inlet opening in the housing to the vapor discharge opening. In accordance with this disclosure, the annular gap has a starting portion, a middle portion and an end portion, wherein the starting portion and the middle portion are arranged in the housing and the end portion is arranged in the housing cap, and wherein the annular gap is wider in the middle portion than in the starting portion.

The protective sleeve is fastened to the glow pencil via a holding element which is disposed outside of the housing and is soldered to the glow pencil. The ceramic glow pencil includes a substantially cylindrical inner conductor disposed along a length of a distal end of the ceramic glow pencil, an insulating layer disposed over the inner conductor, and an outer conductive layer disposed over the insulating layer, wherein the outer conductive layer is connected to the inner conductor at the distal end of the ceramic glow pencil.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a glow plug comprising a housing and a glow pencil protruding from the housing. The glow pencil has a metal sleeve in which a heating coil and a control coil are arranged. The metal sleeve has a first portion surrounding at least part of the heating coil and a second portion surrounding at least part of the control coil. The first portion has a smaller wall thickness than the second portion. Also disclosed is an inventive method for producing a glow pencil for a glow plug.
