  • Patent number: 8740316
Abstract: For a motor vehicle, a compressed air preparation device includes a pressure line configured to conduct compressed air, a drying device disposed in the pressure line, a governor valve coupled to the drying device, and an electrically actuatable solenoid valve, the governor valve being (i) pilot controllable by the solenoid valve at a high pressure level to allow the compressed air to be fed through the pressure line when the solenoid valve is actuated and (ii) configured to control regeneration of the drying device in response to a low pressure level from the solenoid valve when an electrical supply to the solenoid valve fails.

  • Publication number: 20120285327
Abstract: In a compressed air preparation device (1), a drying device (4) is arranged in a pressure line (2) that conducts compressed air. In order to control the supply of compressed air, a governor valve (19) is provided, wherein said governor valve can be actuated by pressure and in an electrical control operation is pilot controlled at a high pressure level by a solenoid valve that can be electrically actuated and which responds at a second, lower pressure level when the electrical signal at the solenoid valve is discontinued. In order to ensure that a motor vehicle equipped with the compressed air preparation device (1) can continue to travel in a nearly unlimited manner when the electrical control of the valves fails, means for carrying out the regeneration of the drying device (4) are provided according to the invention. Said means can be controlled by the governor valve (19) at the second, lower pressure level when the electrical supply fails.

  • Patent number: 8078377
Abstract: A vehicle compressed air supply system includes a supply part with compressor, an air drying part and a consumer part including consumer circuits with brake circuits supplied with compressed air via a multi-circuit safety valve. The brake circuits, and optionally at least one other consumer circuit, include compressed air tanks. Pressure in the circuits is monitored by sensors and evaluated by an electronic control device. To determine system parameters in terms of tank size and compressor output, when filling circuits, the rate of pressure increase in a circuit is determined as a function of compressor speed, and air-drying regeneration is effected. The period of a pre-defined pressure drop or pre-defined pressure gradient is determined and air volume for completing regeneration is calculated from the magnitude of the pressure drop, regeneration time and throttle diameter. Tank volume is determined therefrom. Compressor output is calculated from tank volume and rate of pressure increase.

  • Patent number: 7832813
Abstract: A parking brake module for a pressure medium-operated brake system of a vehicle having a parking brake function enabled by at least one spring brake cylinder includes a first valve device that increases the amount of pressure medium and has an inlet that can be connected to a pressure medium reservoir, an outlet that can be connected to at least one spring-loaded part of a spring brake cylinder, and a control input connected to a control line. A second valve device encompasses at least one first connection used as a trailer control valve connection and can be connected to a trailer control valve to control a trailer brake. To provide a valve concept for different vehicle configurations, particularly including an anti jackknifing function, pressure prevailing at the first connection can be adjusted regardless of pressure prevailing in the pressure medium reservoir and at the outlet of the first valve device.

  • Publication number: 20100187902
Abstract: The invention relates to a parking brake module (10) for a pressure medium-operated brake system of a vehicle having a parking brake function by means of at least one spring brake cylinder (12). Said parking brake module (10) comprises a first valve device (44) which increases the amount of pressure medium and is fitted with an inlet (46) that can be connected to a pressure medium reservoir (24), an outlet (50) that can be connected to at least one spring-loaded part (14) of a spring brake cylinder (12), and a control input (58) that is connected to a control line (60). The parking brake module (10) further comprises a second valve device (76) encompassing at least one first connection (78) which is used as a trailer control valve connection and can be connected to a trailer control valve (22) in order to control a trailer brake.

  • Patent number: 6604057
Abstract: An evaluation method for an inductive displacement sensor first temperature-compensates a measured sensor value, and then calibrates same. The temperature compensation is carried out iteratively, utilizing two temperature dependent functions. The first function is based on the temprature-dependency of the measured sensor value, and the second function is based on the dependency of the temperature coefficient of the sensor model used. For a clutch sensor application, a calibration line is defined by two calibration points, which represent a completely engaged state and a just disengaged state, respectively. Continuous measurement of the displacement of an engaged clutch indicates the wear status of the clutch, so that a warning can be transmitted to the driver when the clutch lining has reached a predetermined thickness.
