According to the invention, the coupling section has a recess open on its front side. At least one wall section delimiting the recess is welded to the upper leg or the lower leg. An upper front web directed outward is adjacent to the upper leg. A lower front web directed outward is adjacent to the lower leg. In at least one front web, a bead oriented along the vehicle vertical axis can be provided in the area in front of a crash box.
