    Abstract: The present invention relates to a protein preparation produced from hemp seeds and to a cost-effective method for the preparation thereof. The protein preparation has a protein content or more than 65% by mass, a fat content of less than 6% by mass and a brightness L* of greater than 70. The protein preparation has a neutral taste, is bright and of superior quality so that it is suitable for foodstuff applications with high colour demands such as vegetable dairy alternatives (drinks, yoghurt, cheese) or bright vegetable alternatives to meat, poultry or fish.

    Abstract: In a process for producing protein preparations from sunflower seeds a protein-containing flour made of dehulled and deoiled sunflower seeds preferably having a protein solubility in water at pH 6 of >15% by mass and/or at pH 7 of >25% by mass relative to the protein content in the flour is subjected to at least one extraction step with water at a pH of more than 4 and less than 9 to obtain a liquid phase as an extract and a solids-rich phase as a raffinate. Before and/or during the extraction step the oxygen concentration in the water is reduced to a value<7 mg/l and/or an oxidation activity is reduced by addition of antioxidant components to the water. After separation of the extract and the raffinate the extract is concentrated and/or dried to obtain a protein preparation having a high protein content. The process makes it possible to obtain qualitatively high-grade and sensorily appealing light-coloured protein preparations having a protein content greater than 75% by mass.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a biofuel and to a process for production thereof, which biofuel contains at least one fraction of triglycerides, a fraction of monoglycerides, a fraction of diglycerides and a fraction of alkylesters of fatty acids. The biofuel may be obtained by partial transesterification of vegetable oil or vegetable fat and is distinguished in that the mass fraction of alkylesters of fatty acids in the biofuel is smaller than the mass fraction of triglycerides. The fuel is suitable in particular as additive for conventional fuels, may be produced at high yield and can also be used at relatively low temperatures below 10° C.

    Abstract: A method for converting biomass into higher-energy-density solids, in particular carbon, humus or peat, is described. In the method, organic substances from the biomass are suspended in water to form a suspension and at least a part of the suspension to be converted is heated to a reaction temperature and is converted into higher-energy-density solids by hydrothermal carbonization at elevated pressure. The conversion is carried out in a reaction volume which is located underneath the Earth's surface. Uniformity of the product quality and an increase in the economic efficiency of the process are achieved by the method.
