Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of pouches (30) from foil (44) or the like for bulk goods or fibrous material, preferably for tobacco (31), wherein a continuous foil web (44) and/or at least one further continuous material web (41) are guided along at least one welding station (45, 46, 47, 104), at which portions of the foil (33a) (and/or of the at least one further material (41) are welded, preferably to other portions of the foil (34a) and/or to the further material (41), in particular to parts of a multiaction sealing means (41). In this method, the foil web (44) and/or the at least one further material web (41) are guided, in particular cyclically, at least approximately in a vertical direction along the at least one welding station (45, 46, 47, 104), and/or the continuous foil web (44) and/or the at least one further material web (41) are welded, in particular cyclically, by ultrasonic welding.

Abstract: For the continuous production of tobacco bags from a sheet-material web (19), the latter is, in the first instance, folded in the region of a folding device (30) to form a continuous web leg (20) corresponding to a pocket of the bag. The web (19) prepared in this way is directed through a sealing subassembly for the purpose of providing transversely directed connecting seams as a lateral boundary to the pockets of successive bags. The sealing subassembly (31) is arranged in an upright position with sealing devices one beneath the other. The web (19) is directed through the sealing subassembly (31) in an upright plane and is largely free of tensioning during the sealing operation.

Lateral boundaries of the pocket (23) comprise belts (30, 31) which, upon introduction of a group (19) of packs with blank (10), can be moved in the pushing-in direction and which butt in a friction-free manner against legs (27, 28) of the blank (10), which is folded in a U-shaped manner. A block-form stop component (37) can be moved within the pocket (23) from one end position to the other.
