  • Publication number: 20080047700
Abstract: A formed sheet heat exchanger is provided for exchanging heat between fluids is provided. The apparatus includes flow divider sheets that are positioned in a stacked configuration and extend in a longitudinal direction so that adjacent pairs of the sheets define flow passages therebetween for receiving first and second fluids. Each of the sheets is nonuniform in the longitudinal direction, having a manifold portion and a corrugated portion. The corrugated portions of each adjacent pair of sheets define a plurality of fluid channels therebetween that are connected to the portion of the flow passage defined between the manifold portions. The fluid channels are configured to receive the first or second fluids and transfer thermal energy therebetween through the flow divider sheets.

  • Patent number: 6996126
Abstract: A network interface of a UMTS radio network controller encapsulates incoming AAL2/AAL5 packetized data such that it can be used on an Ethernet based IP network. A hardware unit is used to calculate additional information for the protocol overhead, including calculating length and error checking values. A partial header information is stored and used for each encapsulated packet of a session. In a preferred embodiment, the incoming packets are buffered in a linked data buffer including a linked list with pointers to the partial header information for the session as well as pointers to the incoming packets.

  • Patent number: 6595751
Abstract: A composite rotor is provided having a main body portion and a plurality of circumferentially spaced blades extending radially from the body portion. The rotor also includes a plurality of recessed radial splines in the body portion thereof. The splines are adapted for engaging a coupler, such as a gearwheel, and transmitting torque thereto. The amount of shear area provided by the recessed splines for transmitting torque from the rotor to the coupler is significantly increased over conventional designs because the shear area includes not only area in the inter-laminar plane, but also in the cross-laminar plane.

  • Patent number: 6136237
Abstract: A method for fabricating a fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composite (FRCMC) part includes the steps of forming a blank from FRCMC material such that the blank has a dimension approximating a desired finished dimension for the part measuring the dimension of the blank in an unloaded condition, applying a load to the blank and then removing the load so as to cause permanent strain of the blank, measuring the dimension of the blank after the load has been applied and then removed, and comparing the measured dimension after loading to the previously measured dimension. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, if the dimension after loading differs from the dimension previously measured, the loading and measuring steps are repeated. After each loading cycle, the blank is measured and the measured dimension is compared to that previously measured after the prior loading cycle.
