  • Patent number: 11175097
Abstract: A packing for heat and/or mass transfer between liquid and gaseous media in counter-flow, in particular for water cooling by air in cooling towers, includes a plurality of film elements contoured by corrugations. The corrugations provide flow passages and the film elements are successively arranged behind each other in the thickness direction forming points of contact. Adjacent film elements are connected to one another at their points of contact and mutually facing large surfaces of adjacent film elements have a fine contouring. The fine contouring includes a ribbing with rib webs and rib grooves running transversely to the flow passages. A rib groove is disposed between two adjacent rib webs. The transitions between successive rib webs and rib grooves are designed such that they are substantially free of radii.

  • Publication number: 20110303391
Abstract: A fluid cooling system has a liquid distribution system with feed pipe and distributor pipes connected thereto. The distributor pipes have full cone nozzles tangentially attached to the distributor pipes. The full cone nozzles each have a nozzle housing that has a rotation-symmetrical nozzle chamber with a rotational vertical axis, a connecting piece opening into the nozzle chamber, a nozzle mouth located downstream of the nozzle chamber and defining an outlet port, and a housing lid closing the nozzle chamber. The housing lid has an inside and extensions supported thereon, wherein the extensions face the nozzle chamber and project into the nozzle chamber. The connecting piece is positioned at a right angle relative to the rotational vertical axis and is offset relative to this axis. The outlet port is offset relative to the rotational vertical axis, in a direction toward the connecting piece.

  • Patent number: 5167879
Abstract: The invention relates to an open-surface component for transferring heat and/or material between a gas and a liquid that are conveyed in crosscurrent and/or countercurrent flows, comprising a plurality of panels (1) that are disposed next to one another and are provided with shaped portions (2) in the form of channels or channel portions for guiding the aforementioned fluid flows through, with the channel or channel portions enabling a spreading out, transverse to the directions of the main flows, of the respective fluid flows between two adjacent panels (1). In order at relatively low pressure drops to enable a high transfer capacity of the open-surface component, the panels (1) that are provided with channel-like shaped portions (2) are additionally provided with a shaping transverse to the two main dimensional directions of the panels (1), and in particular preferably via a semicircular, sinusoidal, or serpentine wavy configuration.
