Abstract: 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diphenyl- and -4,6-di-p-tolyl-1,3,5-triazines are particularly suitable stabilisers, especially against light-induced degradation, for coating materials. They are superior in this respect to the corresponding 4,6-bis(2,4-dimethylphenyl) derivatives.

Abstract: o-Hydroxyphenyl-s-triazines of formula I ##STR1## wherein n is 1 or 2 and R.sub.1 to R.sub.7 are as defined in claim 7, are good light stabilizers for coating compositions which contain a basic curing catalyst. In contradistinction to other UV absorbers, they do not cause discolorations in the presence of such catalysts.

Abstract: A compound of formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.0, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.6 and X are as defined in claim 1, are suitable for use as UV absorbers for protecting light-sensitive organic materials.

Abstract: o-Hydroxyohenyl-s-triazines containing suitable functional groups are incorporated in polymers by copolymerisation, copolycondensation, copolyaddition or by polymer-analogous reaction. The modified polymers so obtained have excellent stability to degradation induced by light, oxygen and heat. They can also be used as stabilisers.

Abstract: 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diaryl-1,3,5-triazines, which carry in the 4-position of the 2-hydroxyphenyl radical a silyl group linked through oxygen to the phenyl nucleus, as well as condensation products whose ##STR1## units contain 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diaryl-1,3,5-triazines in the side-chain, are UV absorbers which are suitable for use as stabilizers for organic polymers.

Abstract: Light-stabilized polymer microparticles, which contain at least one light stabilizer and free epoxy groups, and processes for the preparation of these microparticles by polymerization of suitable monomers, at least one of these monomers being an epoxide which contains at least one further reactive group, and at least part of the polymerization being carried out in the presence of at least one light stabilizer, are described. The polymer microparticles can be used in coating compositions which comprise a disperse phase, containing these particles, and a liquid continuous phase.Coatings and paints based on the compositions according to the invention are distinguished by improved weathering resistance, in particular high light stability.

Abstract: Light-stabilized star polymer microparticles are described which are prepared with particular advantage by group transfer polymerization. The light stabilization is effected by carrying out at least a part step of the polymerization in the presence of a light stabilizer, for example a hindered amine or/and a UV absorber. With particular advantage, those light stabilizers are used which contain reactive groups in the molecule and, in this way, can be chemically incorporated into the polymer. The polymer microparticles show excellent light stability and are outstandingly suitable as constituents in coating compositions which can be processed, for example, to give coating films of high light stability.
