  • Patent number: 9337503
Abstract: A system and method for managing power flow in a fuel cell vehicle. The method provides a difference between a power limit signal and an actual power signal to a PI controller to generate a power offset signal. The method determines whether a fuel cell stack is able to provide enough power to satisfy a power request, and if so, adds the power request and the power offset signal to generate a stack power request signal to cause the upper power limit signal to move towards and be matched to the actual power signal. If the stack is not able to provide enough power to satisfy the load power request signal, the method subtracts the power offset signal from the power limit signal to provide a load limit signal to cause the actual stack power signal to move towards and be matched to the upper power limit signal.

  • Patent number: 8930125
Abstract: A system and method for determining fuel consumption and travel range of an electric hybrid vehicle, such as an electric hybrid fuel cell vehicle. The method includes converting the output current of a battery to a virtual consumed fuel consumption flow value and then adding the virtual consumed fuel consumption flow value to an actual consumed fuel value to get a total consumed fuel value that is then divided by the travelled distance of the vehicle to get the fuel consumption of the vehicle. The method also includes converting the SOC of the battery to a virtual available fuel value and then adding the virtual available fuel value to an actual available fuel value to get a total available fuel value that is then divided by the fuel consumption to get the travel range of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20140114241
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for coating a surface of a substrate with a drug for sustained release: (i) providing a substrate with a surface to be coated, (ii) depositing at least one bilayer on at least a portion of said surface, wherein one layer of the bilayer comprises a polyelectrolyte and the other layer comprises a pharmaceutically active ingredient, and wherein the two layers of the bilayer are oppositely charged under conditions of the deposition and one layer of the bilayer has a substantially different net charge under physiological conditions. The invention also pertains to substrates with microscopic or macroscopic surfaces coated with the method according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 8642222
Abstract: A power request controller that prevents a power request signal to a fuel cell stack controller from providing more compressor air and hydrogen gas than is necessary to meet the current power demands of the vehicle. The stack controller generates a signal of the available current from the fuel cell stack. This signal and the measured current actually being drawn from the stack are received by a proportional-integral (P-I) controller in the power request controller. If the available stack current is significantly greater than the stack current being used, the P-I controller will provide an output signal that reduces the power request signal to the stack controller so that the current produced by the stack and the current being drawn from the stack are substantially the same. A transient detector turns off the P-I controller so that it does not reduce the power request signal during an up-power transient.

  • Patent number: 8476588
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for electron diffraction tomography in a Transmission Electron Microscope. Known methods involve using Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope, and use the scanned beam for STEM diffraction. The invention proposes to form the diffraction patterns with a stationary beam with a diameter slightly larger than the crystal, as a result of which a TEM without STEM unit can be used. Finding the crystal is done in TEM mode. Advantages of the method according to the invention are: a TEM without scanning unit can be used, and the diffraction volume is not depending on the orientation of the crystal, as the whole crystal is illuminated while obtaining the diffraction pattern.
