  • Publication number: 20130233273
Abstract: The invention relates to a reciprocating piston engine, comprising at least one main combustion chamber, which is formed between a piston and a cylinder and which is connected by means of a riser to a pre-chamber having a pre-chamber axis, so that gas-air mixture pushed from the main combustion chamber into the riser by the piston forms a rising flow in the pre-chamber, wherein a gas supply channel separate from the riser opens into the prechamber, and wherein the riser and the gas supply channel are oriented with respect to each other in such a way that gas fed into the pre-chamber by means of the gas supply channel hits the rising flow substantially head-on, wherein the riser runs at an angle from the pre-chamber axis.

  • Publication number: 20130114785
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the medical imaging of a body part, in particular the hand, wherein, in a tomographic image data record of the body part, points are marked which fix a face of interest running through the body part and which is singly or multiply curved. This curved face, which runs through all marked points, is then determined and the image content of the curved face is determined from the voxels of the image data record. This image content is mapped onto an observation plane which is finally displayed with the mapped image content on a screen. The method enables by way of example image representation of the structures of the left hand relevant to a skeleton examination by way of tomographic imaging.

  • Publication number: 20120271162
Abstract: A method for model based motion tracking of a catheter during an ablation procedure includes receiving a training series of biplanar fluoroscopic images of a catheter acquired under conditions that will be present during an ablation procedure, segmenting and processing the series of biplanar images to produce a distance transform image for each biplanar image at each acquisition time, minimizing, for each pair of biplanar images at each acquisition time, a cost function of the distance transform image for each pair of biplanar images to yield a translation parameter that provides a best fit for a model of the catheter to each pair of biplanar images at each acquisition time, and calculating an updated catheter model for each acquisition time from said translation parameter.

  • Patent number: 7415963
Abstract: The invention relates to a direct-injection internal combustion engine that is operated in a first operating range associated with the low part load, with largely homogeneous combustion of the mixture and subsequent injection. Said internal combustion engine is operated in a second operating range associated with the middle part load, with low-temperature combustion of the mixture. In this way, minimum nitrogen oxide and soot emissions and a high degree of efficiency can be achieved both in the lower part load region and up to the full load region.

  • Patent number: 7207311
Abstract: A method for operating a direct injection diesel engine which is operated in a first operating region corresponding to low to medium partial load in such a way that fuel combustion takes place at a local temperature below the temperature of NOx formation and with a local air ratio above the limit value for soot formation, and where fuel injection starts in a range of between 50° to 5° crank angle before top dead center of the compression phase and where exhaust gas is recirculated at an exhaust gas recirculation rate of 50% to 70%. In order to achieve high efficiency in each operating region while keeping NOx and particulate emissions low, in a second operating region corresponding to medium partial load, fuel injection is started in a range from approximately 2° crank angle before top dead center to approximately 20° crank angle after top dead center.
