  • Publication number: 20100042035
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and to a method for determining the dialysis fluid flow rate for an extracorporeal blood treatment device. The dialysis fluid flow rate Qd is determined in accordance with the blood flow rate Qb or the blood flow rate Qb is determined in accordance with the dialysis fluid flow rate Qd, wherein by increasing about a specific value, the increase of a variable characterising the efficiency of the blood treatment, in particular clearance K, does not exceed the specific value. The present invention also relates to a blood treatment device comprising a device for determining the dialysis fluid flow rate or blood flow rate and to a method for operating an extracorporeal blood treatment device. As a result, an optimal dialysis fluid flow rate and/or blood flow rate calculates the requirement in accordance with a high efficiency of the dialysis treatment and in accordance with a reduced consumption of the dialysis liquid.

  • Patent number: 7563240
Abstract: A blood purification device has a blood purification element divided into two chambers by a semipermeable membrane, with a first chamber as part of a dialysis fluid loop and a second chamber as part of an extracorporeal blood loop. By virtue of an analysis unit operatively connected to a sensor in the dialysis fluid loop, the device provides simple and uncomplicated determination of the blood purification performance of the blood purification element for a second material by derivation from a previously established blood purification performance for a first material. In this way, the device also determines the blood concentration of the second material during the blood treatment through measurements in the dialysis fluid without intervention in the treatment sequence.

  • Publication number: 20080011682
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the depletion of at least one component of a fluid medium, with the concentration of the at least one component to be depleted being increased before its depletion. The invention further relates to an apparatus for the depletion of at least one component of a fluid medium comprising a concentration increasing unit for increasing the concentration of the component of the fluid medium to be depleted and a depletion unit disposed downstream thereof and in fluid communication therewith for the subsequent reduction in the concentration of the component to be depleted.

  • Publication number: 20060200064
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of blood purification devices having a blood purification element (1), divided into two chambers by a semipermeable membrane (2), whose first chamber (3) is part of a dialysis fluid loop and whose second chamber (4) is part of an extracorporeal blood loop. The present invention allows simple and uncomplicated determination of the blood purification performance of the blood purification element for a second material, which is derived from a previously established blood purification performance for a first material, which deviates therefrom. In this way, the blood treatment device according to the present invention also allows the determination of the blood concentration of the second material during the blood treatment through measurements in the dialysis fluid without intervention in the treatment sequence, which was not possible with previous methods.

  • Publication number: 20050015040
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for the extracorporeal irradiation of a patient's (P) bodily fluid containing bilirubin, comprising a first (10) and a second (12) line which can be connected to the patient (P), an impermeable irradiation unit for bodily fluids (14) connected therewith and located between the first (10) and the second (12) lines, and at least one adjustable feed unit for bodily fluids (16) located in the first (10) and/or the second (12) line, wherein by means of at least one feed unit for bodily fluids (16) an adjustable flow of bodily fluid through the lines (10, 12) and the irradiation unit for bodily fluids (14) is achievable, in which the first line (10) is designed to continually circulate the bodily fluid drawn from the patient (P) and route it to the irradiation unit for bodily fluids (14), and the second line (12) is designed to continually circulate the irradiated bodily fluid to the patient (P), and in which the irradiation unit for bodily fluids (14) contains an radiation source fo
