    Abstract: A discovery measurement timing configuration (DMTC) window reservation signal is disclosed for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) networks. The DMTC window is defined providing a reserved location for transmission of essential control signaling and potentially high priority traffic that may be transmitted in a prioritized manner. Access within the DMTC window may be provided with a clear channel assessment (CCA) exempt transmission (CET) option or a non-CET option. When the CET option is used, the reservation duration and period may be conveyed through the channel reservation signal. User equipments (UEs) that detect the reservation signal may re-transmit with added offset to inform neighboring base station that may not be within range of the serving base station. Base station that receive either the transmitted or re-transmitted reservation signal will refrain from communications that may interfere with the reception at the UEs.

    Abstract: Random access channel (RACH) configurations for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) networks are disclosed. A base station may perform a listen before talk (LBT) procedure on a shared communication channel at a beginning of a discovery measurement timing configuration (DMTC) window. In response to a successful LBT, the base station may transmit synchronization signals over a plurality of directional beams according to a predetermined sequence. The user equipment (UE) may determine the predetermined sequence through the detected synchronization signals. The base station may signal configuration of additional random access resources when the LBT procedure delays beyond dedicated random access resources. The base station may then monitor for UEs to transmit random access signals from each direction corresponding to directional beams within the additional random access resources according to the predetermined sequence.

    Abstract: Techniques are described herein for coordinating a random access channel (RACH) procedure with a beam discovery procedure. A timing and configuration of a RACH window may be coordinated with a beam discovery window. By coordinating the two windows, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to use information learned from the beam discovery procedure during the RACH procedure, thereby increasing the likelihood that the RACH procedure is successful. In some cases, the RACH procedure is triggered by the transmission of directional beam reference signals during the beam discovery window. In such cases, the UE determines the timing of the RACH window based at least in part on the receipt of the directional beam reference signals. In some cases, the RACH window is configured using a static configuration relative to the beam discovery window.

Unscheduled uplink transmissions may be transmitted in a shared or unlicensed radio frequency spectrum, and access to the shared or unlicensed radio frequency spectrum may be determined based on a priority of an operator associated with a UE for accessing the spectrum. Beamforming techniques may be used for uplink and downlink transmissions and beam widths for beamformed transmissions may be selected based on the information transmitted in a transmission, an operator priority for use of shared radio frequency spectrum, or any combination thereof.

In the event that a first beam of the beams used in the beam monitoring pattern meets certain metrics, the use of one or more additional beams according to the beam monitoring pattern may be overridden and transmissions continued using the first beam.
