    Abstract: Certain embodiments provide systems and methods for image delivery in a picture archiving and communication system. Certain embodiments provide a method for transferring image data via a delivery chain for display at a client workstation. The method includes creating a data list describing image data to be delivered to implement an imaging workflow. The method includes establishing a general loading plan to specify a recommended priority for delivery of the image data in the data list. The method includes generating a node loading plan for each node in the delivery chain based on the general loading plan. The method includes reconciling at least one of the general loading plan and the node loading plan. The method includes delivering the image data via the nodes of the delivery chain based on the general loading plan, the node loading plan for each node in the delivery chain, and the data list.

Certain embodiments provide a method for image layout on a display. The method includes detecting an event related to movement of an image for placement on a display. The method also includes overlaying a navigation grid on at least a portion of the display. The navigation grid includes one or more sections corresponding to sections for content on the display. The method further includes indicating a section of the grid into which the image is to be positioned. In addition, the method includes updating the display to reflect the position of the image.

Certain embodiments provide an improved picture archiving and communication system (PACS) including a workflow manager facilitating presentation and diagnostic interpretation of clinical evidence aggregated from a plurality of sources. The PACS also includes a workflow screen including a plurality of presentation panes. Each of the plurality of presentation panes displays clinical evidence from the workflow manager according to a particular perspective. The plurality of presentation panes are independent but coordinated, and each of the plurality of presentation panes is context sensitive.
