    Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating synthesis gas from coal is provided. A conditioned combustible coal element is packed in a metal case. Oxygen mixed with steam and salt water is applied to the coal element. An electrical direct current direct current is applied to the coal element and oxygen/steam/salt water mixture. An arc is generated at the coal element and synthesis gas is generated.
