Publication number: 20220200227Abstract: The invention belongs to the field of lasers, more precisely to the field of constructional details of laser devices and laser devices for controlling intensity, frequency, length, polarization or direction of emitted rays. The present invention is an improved gain switched fiber laser, which enables changes of repetition frequency in a large range and which, at the same time, maintains a constant peak power and duration of generated laser pulses. The essence of the laser according to the invention is the pump system which is coupled to an oscillator and pumps the oscillator as well as the amplifier. The pump system comprises a primary and a secondary pump module, each at least with one pump laser diode, wherein the primary module generates short pump pulses and wherein the primary and secondary pump module operate at different peak powers.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2020Publication date: June 23, 2022Inventors: Vid AGREZ, Jaka PETELIN, Rok PETKOVSEK, Andrej VRECKO

Patent number: 10888461Abstract: The object of the invention relates to a field of devices for performing treatments in ophthalmology, preferably to a field of devices for selective laser trabeculoplasty and capsulotomy. The essence of a laser therapeutic device for performing treatments in ophthalmology lies in that it is based on a laser source with a short resonator based on a end pumping technique, wherein the pumping is ascertained by a VCSEL light source (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser). Optimization of constructional and physical properties of a laser source is herewith achieved. The laser source meets all requirements for use in both above-mentioned treatments, wherein the device for capsulotomy is also suited for iridotomy and other surgeries, in which the effects of photodisruption are exploited.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2015Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: OPTOTEK D.O.O.Inventors: Uros Orthaber, Boris Vedlin, Andrej Vrecko

Patent number: 9883971Abstract: The object of the invention is a laser device for eye surgery used by ophthalmologists in the treatment with capsulotomy and iriditomy, and a device for selective laser trabeculoplasty. The essence of the ophthalmic laser combined device of the invention lies in that it has one single laser with one optical axis for both wavelengths; the basic wavelength of 1064 nm and the frequency doubled wavelength of 532 nm. Switching between both wavelengths is carried out by a polarization orientation switch. Frequency doubling is inactive at the wavelength of 1064 nm and it is active for the wavelength of 532 nm. At the wavelength of 532 nm additional optical elements for attenuating and collimating the laser pulse are switched on.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2013Date of Patent: February 6, 2018Assignee: OPTOTEK D.O.O.Inventors: Ales Dolzan, Klemen Kunstelj, Boris Vedlin, Andrej Vrecko, Matjaz Zalar

Patent number: 8026998Abstract: A new concept of the LCD light-switching optical filter allowing for very high, electrically controlled, continuously variable light attenuation (up to ?100.000) optimized/symmetrized for the light incidence along the normal to the LCD plane is proposed. The new LCD light-switching optical filter also exhibits very low light attenuation dependence for the oblique incidence of light within a limited cone of angles off the normal incidence direction in compliance with the international safety and quality regulation EN 379 for personal protection equipment. According to the invention the problem is solved by specific, novel modification of the general principle of highly twisted nematic LCDs, allowing for the adaptation of the light transmission/driving voltage characteristics to specific requirements of the driving electronics as well as “symmetrizing” the overall optical birefringent properties, which in turn results in a high degree of their angular compensation.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2006Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Institut Josef StefanInventors: Janez Pirs, Silvija Pirs, Bojan Marin, Andrej Vrecko

Patent number: 7420631Abstract: A new concept of the normally open LCD light switching element is proposed, which allows for the superior angular compensation for the light attenuation by using a single simple negative bireffingent c-plate compensation layer. The concept is based on the simultaneous use of highly angularly symmetric STN LC-configuration (preferably 180° twist) and maximal use of the single (preferably ordinary ray) light propagation mode. The solution is best suitable for various light switching applications like LCD automatic protective welding light filters, as well as for multi-segment large display panels, where it provides for excellent uniformity of the light-attenuation in the “dark” state.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2004Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Institut Jozef StefanInventors: Janez Pirs, Matej Bazec, Silvija Pirs, Bojan Marin, Andrej Vrecko
