  • Publication number: 20100055163
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions of natural biophenols and, optionally, of natural biophenols and triterpenes obtained from the genus Olea. The compositions comprise said biophenols and/or triterpenes included in liposomes. The preferred biophenols within the context of the invention are tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol and the preferred triterpenes are maslinic acid and oleanolic acid and/or their salts.

  • Publication number: 20090324801
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of olive extract as a pronutrient in animal feed, which is obtained exclusively using physical methods. The extract can be used as a natural pronutrient in veterinary science, providing a significant improvement in terms of feed efficiency and other parameters relating to the feeding of birds and pigs. The extract is characterised in that it must contain the following majority products: maslinic acid, oleanolic acid, hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol in the free form or in the form of biologically-acceptable salts.

  • Publication number: 20090179175
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for using the natural biophenols, tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol, contained in the industrial by-products that result from the crushing and processing of olives, whether from three-phase or two-phase presses, and the husks and cakes thereof. The method produces a mixture of the two biophenols with a purity of more than 90% and yields of between 0.1 and 1.5% depending on the product and the processed raw material. The invention essentially comprises the selective extraction and fractionation of the resulting mixtures using solvents.

  • Patent number: 6037492
Abstract: Process for the recovery of oleanolic and maslinic acids contained in the subproducts resulting from the milling and processing of olives or parts thereof, either proceeding from three-phase or two-phase presses. This process enables to obtain, by separation and with purities higher than 80%, of both acids with yields comprised between 0.2 and 1.5%, as a function of the product and prime material processed. Fundamentally, it comprises selective extractions and fractionation of resulting mixtures with the use of solvents.
