    Abstract: Techniques are provided for skipping or suspending PDCCH monitoring to reduce power consumption in a wireless device and extend battery lifetime. To implement PDCCH skipping, the access node sends a command to the wireless device to suspend PDCCH monitoring for a specified time period following a delay period. The request to suspend PDCCH monitoring, referred to herein as the PDCCH monitoring indication, is sent in DCI. In some embodiments, the length of the delay period and/or the suspension interval can be preconfigured. In other embodiments, the length of the delay period and/or the suspension interval is indicated by the DCI transmitted to the wireless device.
