Patent number: 12189219Abstract: Reversible phase-change materials (PCMs) can be added to or incorporated into meta-lenses, wave plates, waveguides, gratings, and other optical components to form active optical devices with controllable and adjustable optical characteristics. Local heating can be used to induce solid-state phase changes and large refractive index changes in the PCMs. The phase and index changes can provide large changes in the device's optical characteristics. Optical devices with PCM can be used for imaging applications, orbital angular momentum control, photonic integrated circuits and optical communication systems, beam steering, and other application.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2021Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Juejun Hu, Tian Gu, Yifei Zhang, Carlos Andres Rios Ocampo, Mikhail Shalaginov, Xiaoming Qiu

Patent number: 11564565Abstract: An optical coherence tomography (OCT) engine includes a digital Fourier-Transform (dFT) spectrometer, a tunable delay line, and a high-speed optical phased array (OPA) scanner integrated onto a single chip. The broadband dFT spectrometer offers superior signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and fine axial resolution; the tunable delay line ensures large imaging depth by circumventing sensitivity roll-off; and the OPA can scan the beams at GHz rates without moving parts. Unlike conventional spectrometers, the dFT spectrometer employs an optical switch network to retrieve spectral information in an exponentially scaling fashion—its performance doubles with every new optical switch added to the network. Moreover, it also benefits from the Fellgett's advantage, which provide a significant SNR edge over conventional spectrometers. The tunable delay line balances the path length difference between the reference and sample arms, avoiding any need to sample high-frequency spectral fringes.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2021Date of Patent: January 31, 2023Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Juejun Hu, Tian Gu, Derek Kita, Carlos Andres Rios Ocampo

Publication number: 20230001277Abstract: The present invention relates to the technical field of hockey-type table games, in particular to a game in which pucks are projected across a playing surface by means of a compression system that can be operated with the fingers of one hand and which aims to insert said pucks into a goal. Specifically, it provides a sliding puck multiplayer game having the possibility of adjusting the difficulty of the game and the number of players, characterized in that it comprises: a polygonal-shaped modular platform; a plurality of interchangeable connector bridges of different sizes that are connected to said modular platform; and a plurality of sliding pucks that are propelled by the effect of said elastic band, to go through said connecting bridges. In this way, it is possible to obtain a sliding puck game that allows a greater number of players simultaneously, with adjustable difficulty, portable and modular.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2021Publication date: January 5, 2023Inventors: Alfredo DE GOYENECHE PARKER, Gonzalo Andrés RÍOS DÍAZ, Alfredo DE GOYENECHE MACAYA

Patent number: 11025439Abstract: A plurality of authentication devices form and manage a self-organizing mobile peer-to-peer mesh network to provide robust authentication of mobile peers, humans and or mobile devices such as drones, cars, satellites, robots etc. The mesh network may supplement traditional fixed point of entry authentication to combat social engineering penetrations or be used in situations where fixed-point authentication is not viable. Network efficiency can be enhanced by using two-level encryption, a first level of encryption based on permissions to join a mesh network and a simpler second level of encryption based on knowledge shared with members of the network for communication. Making the permissions a function of location can make the network more robust. Re-authenticating member peers based on the occurrence of defined events can further enhance security.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2018Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: David James Theodore, Blake Cameron Sims, Andres Rios, Hyperia Doe, Jesse Jonathan Lee, Alfonso Andres Lopez
