  • Publication number: 20170009052
Abstract: Free radical scavengers, especially those that require the presence of oxygen, are useful in extending the life of photochromic, thermochromic, electrochromic, radiochromic, magnetochromic, photo-electrochromic and similar dyes. Particularly, preferred scavengers are the quinones be it O, M or p- and, most preferably, either the ortho, meta or para-hydroquinone. The so-enhanced dye can be used as a coating or cast as a film.

  • Patent number: 6583195
Abstract: A substantially 100% solids sealer composition for use with wood and, in particular, weathered wood surfaces and other porous surfaces is prepared from a mixture of UV curable acrylates and a photoinitiator blend. The composition may further include fillers, fungicides, insect repellents, animal repellents, UV light absorbers, pigments, dyes, and the like. The photoinitiator blend is used at relatively low levels to controll the degree of polymerization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 2001
Date of Patent: June 24, 2003

  • Patent number: 5773487
Abstract: A sprayable coating composition is formulated using one or more acrylates and one or more photoinitiators which act to polymerize the composition when exposed to ultraviolet light. Because of the use of low molecular weight monomers or oligomers, the composition is essentially free of volatile organic solvents, and therefore evaporative emissions in curing are substantially eliminated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 26, 1995
Date of Patent: June 30, 1998
