Abstract: A system for providing first and second trusted applications diverse permission to communicate via a secure element. The system comprising first digital identifier and digital token operably associated with the first trusted application; a second digital identifier and digital token operably associated with the second trusted application. The system further includes a card services module that provides an application programming interface to the secure element supported by a secure data table including first and second sets of permissions. The card services module issues one or more commands to the secure element based on a first action requested by the first trusted application in conjunction with the presentation of the first digital token only if the one or more commands will not violate the first set of permissions. A method is also disclosed.

Abstract: An intelligent electronic device IED has enhanced power quality and communications capabilities. The IED can perform energy analysis by waveform capture, detect transient on the front-end voltage input channels and provide revenue measurements. The IED splits and distributes the front-end input channels into separate circuits for scaling and processing by dedicated processors for specific applications by the IED. Front-end voltage input channels are split and distributed into separate circuits for transient detection, waveform capture analysis and revenue measurement, respectively. Front-end current channels are split and distributed into separate circuits for waveform capture analysis and revenue measurement, respectively.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of simulating an initial component of a signal to approximate a component of a reference signal, the method characterized by the steps of: i. generating a source signal which includes at least one harmonic component, and ii. determining the average amplitude and duration of the source signal, and iii. referencing the amplitude of the reference signal component to be simulated, and iv. integrating the source signal over a period of time sufficient to produce a value tier the signal component amplitude approximate to the reference signal component amplitude.

Abstract: The invention identifies and describes proteins that are differentially expressed in platelets resistant to anti-platelet agents such as aspirin (acetylsalicyclic acid) compared to those platelets that are sensitive to such agents. Methods for determining further such differentially expressed proteins and methods for determining an individual's sensitivity to anti-platelet agents, such as aspirin, prior to administration.

Abstract: An apparatus for removably attaching a lateral support to a chair. The apparatus comprises a support frame removably attachable to the chair. The support frame comprises two side members and a lateral member coupled between the side members spacing the side members apart by a lateral distance, and an adjustment mechanism that is operable to adjust the lateral distance between the two side members to clamp the chair between the side members. The apparatus comprises a lateral support attachable to a said side member.

Abstract: A human surrogate neck model includes a spinal neck region containing cervical vertebrae. A biosimulant intervertebral material is inserted between the cervical vertebrae. The spinal neck region is surrounded by a first silicone material mixed with a polymeric cross-linking inhibitor. One or more elastic tension bands are anchored to a top interface and a bottom interface of the neck model. A second silicone material mixed with a polymeric cross-linking inhibitor is applied to surround the spinal neck region and the first silicone material and to embed the tension bands. One or more of the elastic tension bands and/or a concentration ratio of the first silicone material or second silicone material to the polymeric cross-linking inhibitor can be adjusted for variable test conditions to closely simulate or mimic the static and dynamic characteristics of a human neck in various scenarios.

Abstract: Non-human animals with humanized immunoglobulin loci and methods of using them in vaccine design are described, as well as methods for making broadly neutralizing antibodies against infectious agents and pathogens are provided. Non-human animals with humanized immunoglobulin loci used in B-cell-lineage immunogen design in vaccine development are provided, as are methods of carrying out such design.

The cabinet may include at least one lockable storage compartment, and a controller that controls access to the at least one lockable storage compartment. The cabinet may include multiple printers integrated into the cabinet. The cabinet may include a camera operably coupled to the controller. The cabinet may include a set of cabinet electronics, and a power distribution and communications circuit board. The cabinet may include a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader, wherein the controller conditions access to the at least one lockable storage compartment on receipt of information from the RFID reader. Data may be stored in the controller according to an implementation of RAID technology. The controller may include multiple electronic communications network interfaces, and may include an out of band network communication channel. A dispensing cabinet may facilitate printing of labels for medications.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a utensil, which is essentially a combination of a knife and a spoon with modifications. While the knife portion of the utensil includes a blade, the spoon portion includes a convex scoop. The scoop and the blade are structurally combined and share a single handle. The scoop is a half convex and it is aligned with the blade side by side. The bottom of the scoop is flat, on the same plane as the bottom side of the blade. The end of the half convex merges smoothly with the cutting end of the blade. The current utensil is particularly useful for spreading cream, butter, or cheese. For instance, after cutting the bread with the blade, the spoon portion may be used for obtaining and disposing the butter on the bread piece, and the blade and spoon portions, as combined, may be used for the spreading process.

Abstract: A method for conveying logging tools (LT) and obtaining well log data from a wellbore is disclosed. The method includes running a drill string (DS) including a landing sub (LS) disposed near the lower end into a wellbore. A logging tool string (LTS) is inserted into the upper end of the DS bore. A fluid is pumped into the upper end of the DS bore to assist movement of the LTS. As the fluid is pumped behind the LTS, the cable at the surface is spooled out and the fluid pressure is monitored. The landing assembly of the LTS is landed in the LS. A diagnostic test is activated and run to determine proper functioning of the LT. A release mechanism releases the running tool portion of the LTS. The cable is spooled in. The drill pipe string is pulled upward in the wellbore as the LT are recording data.

Abstract: A pressure sensor device and its use for confirming achievement of a selected pressure in a high pressure process (HPP) for sanitizing food is disclosed. The device includes at least a base and a sheet, each of which is substantially impermeable to the working fluid of the HPP and is deformable at the selected pressure. Microcapsules interposed between flat overlapping portions of the base and sheet contain a color former and burst upon pressurization of the environment surrounding the device. Release of the color former is detected to confirm that the pressurization occurred. The device can be associated with one or more foodstuffs (e.g., a packaged food product or a group of such packages) and remain associated therewith to continuously indicate that the foodstuff(s) have been subjected to the selected pressure and are therefore sanitized.

Abstract: A content delivery network (CDN) includes a single autonomous CDN partitioned into multiple virtual CDNs, the multiple virtual CDNs being organized into a CDN hierarchy. Each virtual CDN is allocated separate physical resources. Within the CDN hierarchy, at least one parent virtual CDN has at least one child virtual CDN. A parent virtual CDN grants at least one privilege to at least one child virtual CDN.

Abstract: An audio device may use the audio detected at two opposite facing, front and rear omnidirectional microphones to determine the angular directional location of a user's voice while the device in speaker mode or audio command input mode. The angular directional location may be determined to be at front, side and rear locations of the device during the period of time by calculating an energy ratio of audio signals output by the front and rear microphones during the period. Comparing the ratio to experimental data for sound received from different directions around the device may provide the location of the user's voice. Based on the determination, audio beamforming input settings may be adjusted for user voice beamforming. As a result, the device can perform better beamforming to combine the signals captured by the microphones and generate a single output that isolates the user's voice from background noise.

Abstract: The disclosed technology can mitigate the risk of infringing a content owner's rights in legally-protectable content by operating as a trusted, third-party license authority between content owners and content users to ensure that a license governing at least some aspects of the protectable content is authentic and thus validly represents the restrictions imposed by content owners pertaining to the use, distribution, modification, combination, interaction, and/or other manipulation of such content. An identifier representative of the protectable content together with a profile of the license (which may include attributes that specify particular restrictions, uses, and interactions pertaining to the protectable content) can serve as a basis for determining the authenticity of the license associated with the protectable content.
